We all have songs in the Beatle catalog that we personally feel were "passed over" or not given the recognition they deserved. Name four songs that you feel should have been A-side singles. (note : I'm relying ONLY on memory with my particular choices, hoping that none of mine were a-sides OR even placed on a single somewhere in the world)

list in order of importance to you :

1) Here, There, Everywhere
2)Little Child (The Fab should've made a longer version than the one appearing on MTB or WTB)I think it would've been a rockin' early A-side and possibly enormous hit.
3)While My Guitar Gently Weeps (maybe a slightly shorter, 1968 "radio-friendly" White Album edit)
4) You Won't See Me (hey, if Ann Murray could redo this   , why didn't the original Fab version get any recognition ? I always liked this one on R. S.)It wasn't just "album filler" to me...the Beatles NEVER HAD ANY.

Eight Days A Week was an A-side in America (a #1 single), I can't speak for the UK.

My choices for A-sides that never were:

01: Hey Bulldog
02: No Reply
03: Drive My Car
04: Here Comes The Sun

Let's face it: there's a lot.  The Beatles could have amassed way more than 20 Number One hits in America if EMI or George Martin or whoever decided to release more singles.  In the book I'm reading by Spitz ("The Beatles"), it said something to the effect that they were afraid to release singles for fear of it not going to the top of the charts.  In the UK, "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" didn't do as expected (although "Penny Lane" hit #1 in the U.S.), so that spooked them thereafter.  Unless they knew they had a bona fide smash hit like Hey Jude, they just held them back for the albums.  That's essentially why it was such a treat when veering away from the "hits" collections and listening to the actual albums.  They contained songs I never knew or heard before - songs like You Won't See Me, for example - as mentioned above.  Anne Murray covered it and enjoyed having a Top 10 hit with it.  When I heard the Beatles version, I was in esctasy.  That's a strong word to use for music, but then again, maybe it isn't strong enough for this band.  (I had similar feelings for the Doors.)
