I figured this forum would have a good guess as to how many Beatles fans there are in the world, based on record sales if nothing else.
So, how many fans of the Fab Four do you think are around today? Are there like millions and millions, or way less and the Fabs are mostly a history lesson? Thank you!
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007

Thank you, Pasta Cheif, that's what I was looking for. 1st 4 weeks-- was that worldwide? Where can I look up sales figures?
There's quite a spread between 13 million and "thousands" as Andy says. That's why I'm curious. Thank you!

The Beatles have amassed the greatest sales for any group. All-time sales have been estimated by EMI at over one billion discs and tapes to date. In 2001, they had been certified for album sales of 163.5 million in the US alone. The band has numerous other world records, including that for most recorded song - Lennon and McCartney's "Yesterday" had 1,600 versions recorded between 1965 and January 1, 1986. Also, their album titled 1, released on November 13, 2000, sold 13.5 million copies around the world in its first month, making it the fastest-selling album.
Well, today world population is about 6,500,000,000 (6.5 billion). So I suppose at least 5% of all that people has Beatles records and listen to their music. Wow, more than 300 million fans!
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat trash... I work out hard everyday and have a healthy life. And I'm proud of it.
Wingsman: 300,000,000 BM & PC: 13,500,000+ Andy: thousands Komakino: 136 to 142 Mean Mr. Mustard: two.
You can see why I'm so interested in getting some hard data on this. I welcome all facts and speculations!

This is going really good. How funny! Let's hope I'm right. I suppose many fans never bought '1', but I'm sure many people became a Beatle fan since they buy '1'. I'm one of those!

Don't hold me to this, I think I might've miscalculated
Sorry, MMM, this is like the Song Survivor Game. Once you vote, you can't change it. For all eternity, people will see this thread and wonder why you thought there were only 2 Beatles fans.
...actually, that's a cool thought. Ages from now, scholars will look back on this message board. "Imagine that," they'll say. "This guy in 2007 thought there were only 2 Beatles fans, when today there are 34,295,342,676,234,552,646,346,645 of them." (this is assuming continued population growth... and probably a reissue of the Beatles catalog...)

If there's that many fans I'd hate to think about how many normal people there would be inhabiting the planet. Or the moon or Mars...
First Beatle fans on Mars: "That's one small step for the normal people, and one giant leap for Beatlekind."
