Forget about big arenas.  Macca should round up old friends like Ringo Starr and former bandmates from Wings, and hit the clubs.  This is something he wanted to do himself at one point, but under a disguise.  When a reporter queried "wouldn't you be recognized by your voices," Macca got mad.

Anyway, forget the disguises.  And forget about getting snatched up by teenage girls like in 1964 - Beatlemania in that respect is over - not only because Paul looks like the kindly grandfather he is, but because those teenage girls are about as old as he is.  And today's teenaged girls wouldn't be interested (I don't think).  If he played in a club at New York City's Bleeker Street, it would be AN EVENT.  Forget the money - he probably wouldn't make that much because the clubs are so small.  But in Macca's career, EVENTS are more important than money.  He doesn't need it; what he does need is popularity.  New albums won't do it.  New albums are for die-hards, and those albums will be forgotten by history.

Yes, he needs to hit local clubs that charge $12.00 admission around the country.  He would go down in history for being unique and, frankly, it would cap off his career because, like it or not, it's almost over.

I can't see him getting back with old Wings members, and without Linda (even though she wouldn't be hard to replace). As far as I know he isn't friends with any of the old Wings boys.. I'd go see it for sure (no matter how much tickets were) but I don't know how great they'd all sound together again anyways.

screw former Wings members!  Paul can get talented guitarists from the phonebook, for all that matters.  Paul is still the greatest musician alive.

Hello? here's one teenage girl who's still interested!

In all seriousness though, I think this would be a great idea. He should give the little people a chance to see him in concert. Charging so much for tickets that only rich people can come to your concerts is not cool and definitely not rock and roll!

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

To be honest I wouldn't see Paul without them.. I like some of Pauls solo music, but I'm not interesting in seeing him perform with the musicians he has now, or with just anyone. Go ahead and call me crazy.

Make that two! Hehe

Oh man, I wish so bad that Paul could play locally for cheap prices! I don't think it could ever happen though, 'cause he's a big star with all his fans and all that. A great thought, though!

His concerts are very expensive, but I'm certainly willing to pay whatever it takes. You'd expect it to be expensive, he puts on the greatest show, and he's the best musician alive. It truly must be a wonderful experience, I can see that just from watching my concert film DVDs.

He should also be willing to perform at weddings, anniversary parties, and what-not.  He should also have a thousand names thrown in a hat, and pick the first one hundred.  Of those one hundred, he should come to their house and perform in the backyard.

Maybe he should do Vegas shows like ol' Elvis did. Then once a year there in Vegas get on a rooftop of a building with fireworks at night, playing to the crowd while that magician Chris Angel walks up and down the side of the building.
No really, I like the idea of smaller shows, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Why?  Wouldn't you want Paul McCartney in your backyard?

It would be nice, but I dont think he owes me or anybody else that priviledge for any reason.

The guy sells out stadiums and you think he owes people to play at their kids birthday parties for gods sake.

Did I miss something? Wasn't it a joke?

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Paul only did the small gigs once in his lifetime and it was the university tour back in 1972. He had a good reason for doing thos shows. in 1969 he wanted to tour again with The Beatles but obviously you know what happened. So when The Beatles broke up he wanted to start from scratch. He formed Wings and wanted to start small like The Beatles did in The Cavern and in Hamburg. So he played the unexpected small shows in the university the he moved on to sold out concerts in huge arenas. Paul probably won't do shows like that again because he has no need to, and he is simply too big(famous wise) to do a show in a back yard or wedding. I mean honestly if your neighbor had Paul McCartney playing in his backyard wouldn't you call everyone you know to tell them Paul is playing in someones backyard? Too many uninvited guests would show up. It would never work.

they had a thing on mtv not so long ago, and it was basically what buttmunker said they got people to phone in and who ever was chosen they're favourite band would come and play in there backyard.

And it was the red hot chili peppers who she chose and well it happened and was televised, and they are a huge band that really dont need to be doing it as theyre album sold millions but it still helps as any promotion is still promotion.

So maybe macca could do something in a similar way, im not saying the chilis are in the same league as macca but the chilis in this day are just as popular maybe more and will probably sell more records.

He doesnt owe it to us, but it would maybe help his record sales and popularity if he was interested in raising those things
