But the Apple Boutique was a failure, and this caused a lot of undue stress within the group.
I've never read that the boutique caused much of a problem. In fact they all seem to have had quite a lot of fun at the closing down sale!
As far as MMT is concerned, Brian would have made sure the show was broadcast in color the first time - not on Boxing Day, where it was shown in Black-n-white. The difference might have caused less criticism.
It was shown at just about the best time it could have been. Prime time evening slot on Boxing day. Most of the country was at home, still enjoying Christmas. And it was shown on the most popular TV station. Yes, it could have been shown in colour, but that would have meant putting it on BBC 2, and some of the country still could not receive BBC 2. And let's not forget that colour TV didn't arrive in Britain until that year, and hardly anyone had a colour TV set! In fact, by the end of 1968 their were only 100,000 colour sets in Britain. The only solution for MMT would have been to make it longer so it could have been shown in movie theaters instead of TV. |
