What are the odds of getting Beatles Anthology 4?

The three titles that were released in the mid-90's were spectacular!  But I'm quite sure it only touched a quarter of what the band could actually offer.  There's tons of bootlegs out there, for a reason - because fans desire to own them.  They want it all.  (Fans are crazay in the membraine.)  Why not give it to us?  There is a definite market for fresh Beatles material.  The release of Anthology I, II, and III proved that, according to sales.  Both the first two Anthology albums hit #1, and sold many thousands within the first two weeks.

There's so much out there, its ridiculous.  Maybe they're waiting for Ringo and Paul to pass away before releasing them, maybe they can't release them while they're alive because of their refusal of being released.

I would love the following:

Twickenham Studio Rehearsals

Also:
(from Wikipedia)

Some of the releases of the Anthology series consists of bootlegged material yet to be officially released, maybe it will never be released. But some have been bootlegged. This includes:
The Beatles Anthology More
The Beatles Anthology Plus
The Beatles Anthology 2000
The Beatles Anthology 4 - Advanced Test
The Beatles Anthology 5 - Advanced Test
The Beatles Anthology 6 - Advanced Test
The Beatles Anthology Extra
The Beatles Anthology Outtakes 1
The Beatles Anthology Outtakes 2
The Beatles Anthology Outtakes 3

I would be in heaven.

Oh, and I want to add that I somehow downloaded a song from LimeWire called: "That Means A Lot".  This particular version was CLEAN, with crisp McCartney vocals and solid harmonies from John and George, the way the song was meant to be heard.  Alas, the Anthology 2 only included one version.

I'd give my right arm for more Anthologies (maybe even my left one too)

Well at this time is really difficult to release officially a new Anthology I think. The 3 volumes covered 13 years of music, their entire career. What they're gonna do?
The only complaint I have with the bootlegs is that they don't follow the exactly cover style, art design, fonts. By the way, do they include booklets? I don't know.

I'm just surprised at Apple, or whatever.  There's money to be made here, and they're pretending they don't need it, or something.  There's a lot of Beatles fans without computers who can't get bootlegs, or haven't the notion how to do it (like me).

I don't know where I heard or read it, but I recall that George, Paul and Ringo stated quite clearly that they were not interested in doing any more anthologies because they thought that selling the leftovers of the leftovers would be kind of a rip off.

I've heard a lot of bootlegs, and an Anthology 4 would just be re-treading old ground with inferior material. Whilst it would appeal to most of us, it wouldn't really appeal to anyone else. The Let It Be stuff is worthwhile for the chat. Musically it's pretty dreadful. As for the two Holy Grails: Carnival Of Light, and the 27 minute Helter Skelter. You can forget about 'Carnival'. George didn't want it on the last Anthologies, so it's never coming out. I'm not even sure that the 27 minute Helter Skelter exists anymore, though there is an edited version on Anthology, so it's possible. But it's probably awful.

I've always heard of that infamous "Carnival" tape--from Paul's early experimental period (spurred by the musical influences of John Cage and his then association w/ renown surrealists during his Indica gallery stage)so I'm very interested in hearing that, but I have no interest whatsoever in hearing a protracted version of "Helter Skelter", which I assume (having never heard anything other than the official White Album take and the Anthology version), would be nothing more than a long drawn out and uninspired jam...(unlike the brillaint fade on "Jude")
I'm quite happy with the "abridged" version of H.S. I've always known...the less reminder of the Manson association, the better....(IMO)

I think - though I'm too lazy to look it up - that the Anthology version of HS is an edit from the 27 minute take.

I'll take your word for it. As for me, I dont want to hear ANY 27 min. version of it. It's monotonous to my ear...which is SO uncharacteristic of the band I love the most. But without "splitting hairs" about relative differences of takes of the song, Helter Skelter is essentially, IMO, an example of an early heavy metal song--something one doesnt readily associate w/ the Beatles (although they were extremely eclectic), this song--apart from it's demonic association which I dont put much stock in, has always been a lot of noise to me. I detest it. When I want heavy metal, I put on Zeppelin. This is not the Fab's forte. McCartney is more Cole Porter than Robert Plant.

We'll never get an official Anthology 4, but with all the stuff that's floating around the internet these days, some enterprising bootlegger may well compile one.

There is so much available on good quality Bootlegs now - Ebbett's/TOUP/Purple Chick/Lazy Tortoise etc. - that there really is no need for an Anthology 4. It would just be more outtakes of the same songs anyway. And whilæst the hardcore fans would love it, the media would slate them for it.

Agree totally, but I'd love to see a good unofficial release. I'll probably eventually compile one for my own use, just to get the best bits all in one place.

There are unofficial Anthologies.

Anthology More

Anthology Plus

And plenty more than that.

Thanks for the tip. I remember seeing copies of Artifacts (actually a pre-Anthology set, I think) and Anthology Plus at a shop in Toronto about ten years ago. I was sorely tempted to buy them, but the asking price was insane. Those sets are good starts, but in these post- Purple Chick days, I suspect there's a better collection to be made. Those PC sets are amazing.

They are my standard Beatles references now. The 'official' CD's have been consigned to the loft.

Same here. The main discs are still on my computer as WAV files. Apple/EMI won't do half as good a job when or if they ever get around to issuing a remastered series. EMI have the benefit of having the master tapes, of course, but that's the only advantage their sets will have.

the 3 official Anthologies were excellent. i believe that the best stuff is already out on these 3 albums. A 4th album would only comprise of things rejected from those albums so whats the point? if we're not getting anthing better than we've already got, who needs it?

Offhand, the only thing I can think of that might be worth an official release is the demo of "Love Of The Loved" from the Decca audition. Glyn Johns' four minute mix of "Dig It" from Get Back is worth having for completeness's sake, and some of the Kinfauns demos are good too, though again probably only of interest to completists.

By the way, the presence of three or four new Kinfauns demos on Anthology 3 not included on the bootleg version suggests that there may be more of these to be had.
