Can some talented bloke photoshop pictures of John Lennon, side-by-side, face frontal, head shot?  Side-by-side - one from 1964/65, and the other from 1969/70, to show the drastic transformation he went through?  How gaunt in the face, the amazing hair, etc.

That would be an awesome picture, one picture showing the difference of just a couple of years.

Post acid, I have always thought John's eyes have a sort of ex-POW sort of look. They're not sparkly and mischeivous like they were prior, they just seem beaten down and weary to me.

John did seem happier in the early days, but I think it has more to do with growing up than doing drugs. Most people lose that spark when they get older. Unfortunately. He still had his moments of sillieness though. I think he would have been one happy old man for some reason.
