I have no idea. I suppose the original cover doesn't look too 'commercial'. But I can't say. I just know that anytime I saw the remastered edition in the record stores I refused to buy it because I hate that cover-change. Damn Yoko.
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat trash... I work out hard everyday and have a healthy life. And I'm proud of it.
I think John sent all of the pictures that are on the origial album to EMI and they did what they wanted with them. I don't think it was John's idea to have the football painting to be the cover in the first place.
I swear I read something like that in that Ray Coleman (I think) book, but I could be wrong.
The recent Japanese issue of Walls and Bridges contains the CD in a mini album cardboard replica of the original cover. Complete with folding bits! You can get it (quite cheaply by the look of it) here:
I hate the way yoko added bonus tracks to all these re-issues also.there was no need for the tracks added to walls and bridges.
The thing is, these days, if people don't get bonus tracks they complain. She's dammed if she does, and dammed if she doesn't. Set the CD player to stop at the end of the original album if you don't like them.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
I'm sick of all the anti-Yoko rubbish. The solo acoustic bonus track of Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out) is just brilliant. Wherever John is now, I bet he's sticking two fingers up at the Yoko haters.
I wonder should I call you but I know what you'd do You'd say I'm putting you on But it's no joke it's doing me harm.... Tell me tell me tell me come on tell me the answer You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer.... When I get near you The games begin to drag me down It's alright I'll make you maybe next time around.... I wonder where you are tonight and why I'm by myself...
I wouldnt say yoko haters........i reckon if an album is done in a certain way in 1974,you would like to hear the way John intended it to run as is in 1974.When you buy an album...in my case anyway, you expect to hear a finished article....not a compilation of demo's stuck at the end. I myself am a big fan of yoko's,and i myself like that acoustic version, but maybe not just stuck on the end of a great album.
P.s....its just a fans opinion.......like yours, so dont freak out.

Like I said before, you don't have to play the extra tracks. I hear people complaining about re-issues if they only get the original 35 minutes and no extras. There's no pleasing some people.
Strangely, I've yet to hear anyone complain about the 5 bonus tracks that are stuck right in the middle of the re-issued 'All Things Must Pass'. Now that's annoying!

I have to go with Mr Doherty on this one. I know I could program my CD player not to play the bonus tracks (if I ever get to work that f***er out. As it is it's permanently on repeat.) But it just don't feel right. Silly I know. I would rather have a system (and this is pie in the sky I know) where you had to programme your player if you WANTED the bonus tracks. The way this bugs me is totally senseless I agree, and will not hold up against any serious arguement. But it's like my granny porn fixation - there are some things you just can't explain.
your granny too eh? What is it with old folk? Its like if your fav album was Sgt Pepper, would you want day in the life to end....and a rough mix of when im sixty four to start at the end as a bonus track, just when you've been blown away by the original content of the album? Its a hard one to call i know. If your like me, and are a bootleg freak, you kinda like to keep all that out-take demo stuff to one side and have the albums as they are, complete and untouched. But again granny porn is a big problem in our society these days.......tell Gordon Brown to sort that one out!
I understand where you're coming from Paul, I guess I'm just not as bothered about it as you are. I'm a bootleg fan too, so I'm quite happy to leave that stuff there. But if it's put on album you do get a better mix. Some albums actually have a half minute gap between the end of the album, and any extras.

I think a rough demo of 'Only A Northern Song' would finish off Pepper nicely. (I'm putting this in brackets in case some of our younger members take me seriously!)

Just jumping off the subject a bit.Has anyone ever seen the video of John promoting 'walls and bridges' on an american tv show(tomorow/today show?),where he mentions that its great that Paul,George,Ringo and he all had albums at the same time,he also comments about the albums cover and stuff?.Ive seen about 20 seconds on youtube....anyone seen the full interview?
Didn't he say something like 'why does everyone keep going on about The Beatles getting back together when we've got four Beatles albums out at the same time'?
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
i remember him saying 'isint it nice its the first time we are all in the charts together' im gonna try and dig it out at home later, its just a clip though, wouldnt mind seeing the whole show.

Now you mention it, yes it is annoying. I think a better option would have been to put the half the jams and half the bonus tracks on each disc. The jams are hard to appreciate individually as they are all lumped together at the end of disc 2.
I wonder should I call you but I know what you'd do You'd say I'm putting you on But it's no joke it's doing me harm.... Well, like I said, I have no real problems with extra stuff, but I think it should never interfere with the running order of the original, like 'All Things...' does. Weren't the Jams part of the original release?

We had a poster here a while ago who didn't realise that the lumpen Power To The People was a bonus track on POB. This surely affected the whole listening experience, and greatly altered the context of the album. Western civilisation is under threat as it is without this crap going on.
I use my iPod to listen to the song order the way I like it . I just leave the bonus tracks off altogether .
