I am a firm disciple of Thin Lizzy's Live and dangerous, followed closely by David Bowie's "Stage" and Bowie's farewell ziggy gig at the Hammersmith odeon. My Death is Bowies finest hour, period. I love it.
LIVE AT LEEDS - THE WHO is a fantastic live album and as for Various live Woodstock is brilliant But without doubt LIVE AND DANGEROUS - THIN LIZZY , is a masterpiece

cue mr Kite......
Trouble I have with L & D is that it was so overdubbed in the studio, it's hardly live at all.
Van Morrison - It's Too Late To Stop Now.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."
"I'm Joe English and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland." xD
Another vote here (from a big Who fan) for Live at Leeds. I think Live at Leeds is best heard on the one cd reissue from 1995 which is all the non Tommy portion of the show plus Amazing Journey and Sparks in an excellent mix. For an excellent live Tommy and some tracks not featured on Live at Leeds I also recommend the Who's Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 2 cd.
The Doors have a few more live archive releases on the way this year, Pittsburgh 1970 should be out around May and New York 1970 later in the year which I believe may be a three or four disc set.

Cool. I got Live in Boston Live in 1970 a while back which is pretty good, although Morrison is drunk through most of the show, the band are on top form! I hope they don't keep releasing loads or my money will start running out
I have no idea! I'm not a big fan of live albums. Of all I have, my favourite is Tripping The Live Fantastic!
Anyway, I've readed that one of the greatest live albums (if not the greatest) is Peter Frampton's 'Frampton Comes Alive!'. Does anyone have this album?
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat trash... I work out hard everyday and have a healthy life. And I'm proud of it.

Every household in the seventies had this album. There were actual rumours at the time that it contained subliminal messages telling people to buy it, because no one could figure out while it was so popular. Live albums by unknown artists don't normally rocket to the top of the charts (10 weeks). The songs weren't bad I suppose, but it's big gimmick was Frampton's talking guitar. The performance and production were slick perfect and without the crowd noises could easily be a studio album. Thinking of it they were attributes not too common for live albums up to then and may have contributed to its success.
They were groups that had more success with their live albums than with their studio ones. For example, Kiss, right? At least that's what I readed once. Frampton Comes Alive! included some killer songs as Baby I Love Your Way or Show Me The Way. Songs that only gained airplay when they were released on the live format. I like some of the Frampton stuff. I'm In You is one of my favourite songs ever.
