I'd like to point out, and you can read it on page six, that I only got personal when I was personally attacked. I got two very rude replies from comments not eve directed towards this person. Comments which were not in the least bit nasty I might add. It's only then that I pointed out his rudeness. I noticed that others have made not so nice comments to his as well and long before I did yet not recieving half the wrath that I was so kindly offered. So if I got out of line, I apologize. Although I have seen recent comments much worse than mine and I was only defending myself. No one else seemed to want to call this person on the attacks. Anyway, I will now refrain from further commenting. Thanks for the support.
Sondra, I haven't read anything you've said that got personal unless it was in return. So don't worry about it.
It's funny that it was my post about being able to speak your mind, and critisise The Beatles on this forum without fear of rebuke, that caused someone to do just that. Shame, without that freedom this forum is no different from any other.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

if anything may put me off The Beatles, (insert your religion here) forbid, it's this stinking forum right now....Yor wrong, I'm right....pffft
The band ended years ago, it appears Macca has got some issues. Probably like any man advancing in years with a legacy to think about. If they had all died in a plane crash together, this conversation would probably not even exist.
Staunch support for 1 Beatle is one thing but it only ever achieves the dis-harmony of the mostly 'neutral' Beatle lovers. Sorry to dis-appoint any idolisers out there but they were just human. Get over it.
Perception is a funny thing. The only true way we can enjoy the Beatles is through our own personal encounters. Round here, it's like mining for reasons to ultimately reveal The Beatles as some squabbling kids....is that mainly what future generations are going to discover about them? It's a good way of splitting up a forum though. Hats off.
They were young, got out of their grot-holes, had a career break, lived the dream, grew-up, split-up. What happened in that 10 year period is extraordinary.
I'm sticking with the music. It speaks for itself.
Kevin (Mean Mr. Mustard) I really think you need to calm down. Start reading what people are actually saying in their posts. Your responses are beginning to sound like they're coming from a spoilt child, which is no good for discussion. I've been very tempted to respond to several of your posts this morning, but I really don't see the point anymore. You are missing the point, and taking things the wrong way in nearly every post that's been made. And you're clearly taking this far more personally than you should be, to the extent that you're coming over at times, as quite rude.
One last thing. Please try to tone down the use of italics, capitals, exclamation marks, and the like. They make posts very difficult too read. As you told Sandra that you had a Masters in Comparative Literature, do you think you could make use of some of that expertise to express yourself without constantly resorting to such things. Thank You.
Paul, kindly explain the "point" that was missed... she may not have devised the "could Einstein write a pop song?" analogy herself (to compare different types of "genius")but she clearly employed the reference in one of her recent posts. I find this allusion ridiculous, irregardless of what others may say. I've already stated comparing the scientific genius of someone like Einstein to a creative artist like Lennon is like comparing apples & oranges. I feel I'm well within my rights to express my disgust at such an imbecilic comparison. What you deem as the ravings of a "spoiled child" is an arbitrary label and doesnt affect me in the least (in fact, I laughed...sorry, no "ouch" emanated from this mouth if that was the intended reaction) Instead, I call what I wrote as just steadfast adherence to strongly held personal opinions. Please dont insult my intelligence by denying that there isnt a pre-disposition by many ppl (not all) to tear down the accomplishments of John Lennon in favor of Macca. I've noticed from the get-go that any positive thing I stated about John was invariably demeaned, while Sir Paul is routinely and perpetually defended with a hero-worship that borders on mindless idolatry..based inherently on him being the "cute Beatle". It's childish. I give endless credit to some lone souls here(and I wont mention their names to keep them out of the fray) who are free-thinkers, like myself, who dont follow the "sheep" (Paul dig intended) and arent instantly prepared to raise McCartney to pop culture sainthood. I never claimed Lennon was a pillar of virtue, but some are convinced Paul is...what rubbish. BM, judging by this condescending post, I see that you've dutifully taken on the role of group spoken to "call to the carpet" the "Ugly American" whose views do not conform to the general concensus here (that John is not to be thought of as particularly special) Well, news flash...I'm not phased. The lynch-mob mentality (among some here, not all ) is obviously alive and well. It's funny how there wasnt the same kind of action done to um.."Sandra" when awhile back she seemed to approve the racist views of Howard Stern (and company) when recently on his so-called "talk" show he made obvious hateful remarks against Yoko Ono. I find it amusing how no mention of this has occurred...but then, on second thought, why would it be...? Sterns views--and therefore "Sandra's" also by association, is in-keeping w/ the widespread belief that John's widow and ex-artistic partner deserves perpetual ridicule... But that's "besides the point" right? The big-bad Mean Mr. Mustard should be summarily censored by the self-appointed "powers that be" at DM because we dont like his "tone" or viewpoint. I find it laughable. And as far as you saying that I'm "taking things the wrong way in nearly every post"...funny, I remember you (BM) giving me a seemingly good-natured "well put" regarding a few of my writings...hmmmm...guess on THOSE occassions I must've said things that didnt "rock the proverbial boat" as it were...ok, I'm a little slow it seems...I get it now...dont show passion, adhere to the prevailing opinion or face becoming the site's leper....or more aptly put, persona non grata. Good, I gladly accept that appellation. I'll wear it with pride.
Now, as to your "suggestion" that I refrain from my use of CAPITALS, italics and exclamations !!!!!!...oh, I'm sorry, Headmaster, I wasnt aware that grammatical errors were so strictly graded here. When writing a thesis or a dissertation I would naturally think twice about these type of glaring mistakes...I have no such inhibition at a Beatles internet site!...dear god... I thought the rules were lax here in favor of emphasising a point!! I dont have to be formal here..I use any style I see fit...THE BEST RECOURSE FOR YOU NATURALLY WOULD BE TO JUST PUT ME ON "Block" IF MY WRITING HURTS YOUR DAINTY LITTLE EYES (lmFao) (in fact, PLEASE do) (I promise I wont shed any tears) LONG LIVE the GENIUS of John Winston Lennon ! sorry I offended the legions of "Silly Love Song" sheep...(u kno who u r) ..bah (or should I say BLEH)
My friend, raising John to "pop culture sainthood" and "hero-worship" is precisely what I'm debating against. Funny old world isn't it? And in defence of BM he is a Moderator, and he was moderating. Again, I think you'll find that all that has happened is that we have tried to even the playing field between John and Paul, NOT put one over the other. Please, don't see yourself as some free-thinking persecution victim. You have an opinion that a few of us disagree with (that John is a genius and Paul isn't). If you'd said the reverse you'd probably get the same response. I will leave it at that.
i've finished reading the thread now and i can easily say that i'm scared. i think john and paul are both geniuses. some people think none of them are. it's not written down somewhere that "john lennon/paul mccartney is a genius" it's you who decides if you consider them as a genius and i'm sure nobody really cares if you do. and imo they both love[d] each other and it was a joke [btw, i love john's pic] so it's kinda weird that you people are fighting.
Kevin (MMM), my point about you missing the point has only become more obvious after reading that post.
As this thread has veered wildly off topic, and become a shouting ground, I'm locking it to save anymore animosity. If anyone has any problems with that, PM me.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
Who would have thought a Ram and a Pig could push the forum close to World War III ? Im a bit sorry i posted this thread but only a bit , as im not responsible for how other adults conduct themselves. Anybody can be rude and get personal it's easy . But as i said earlier it's great The Beatles still ignite passion in people. I personally hope Mr Mustard returns to the forum , as most of what he writes i enjoy reading , so have a chill-out Christmas Mean Mr. Mustard and come back in the New Year
