As I said in an earlier post - one of the reasons I like this forum is that you can critisise The Beatles without fear of rebuke. No sooner do I say that than a certain member starts getting rude and arrogant because some people didn't agree with him. Good, honest, heated debate is one thing, but where personal insults start to creep into the 'conversation', then that's going too far. As was said on this thread earlier - 'If you don't want people to disagree with you, then don't post', move on to something else, or back up what you're saying.

I expect we're all guilty sometimes of overreacting, but throwing tantrums and insults around is not to be tolerated.

For the record, I would have been quite happy to have MMM back on the forum, he's clearly a very big fan of long standing, but the PM I received from him last night, insulting not just me, but another member of this forum prevents me from tolerating that. I hope he finds himself another forum that suits his views, and manner of posting better.

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Thank you.   I'm guilty of fiercely disagreeing on certain subjects sometime, but I don't believe I've ever got arrogant and insulting. There is a difference between that, and passion.

I agree with DaveRam, BM.  You're doing a good job to keep some semblance of order and politeness.  There's no need for us to go at each other like . . . rams or sheep or dogs (oh no I've gone into a Pink Floyd tangent).

Ezra Pound said something to the effect, how can there be peace in the world when even my friends can't get along.

Good job, BM.

Ive only just read this and am quite astounded by the views suggested by so called fans. I agree that in such a forum as this people should be free to critise, but any rudeness between members on here is only a secondary issue compared with the pure vitriol that has been afforded to both John and Paul. Ive seen less vintictive hatchet jobs performed by Albert Goldman or Cynthia Lennon.

I just dont really get this, My Beatles better than your beatle mentality.

Yes its interesting when there are different viewpoints but it makes me angry when people revert to factually incorrect statements to try and prove that their point is more valid. and theres plenty of them and you know who you are.

Both beatles have made plenty of mistakes along the way and in some ways that is quite comforting. They have made mistakes in their lives just the same as we all have in ours. They are only human after all

Its quite ironic that the abuse dished out for both john and paul in this thread is far greater than the abuse they gave each in the first place.

Things can get heated in here. We all know that. But there's plenty of people coming to DM's in the first place because of DISCUSSING things, particularly Beatles-related stuff. That is what this Beatles forum is about. Sure, we play our games and name our favourite songs and why George is so cute. But there's members who would like to go deeper than that. And being fanatic about our love, there's times when you go blind and can't see the points that others are making. Getting angry is just prove that you really care. Insulting people is another thing and it's hard to divide the two. I think this thread his done its job and will therefore be closed. Please PM me (or Paul or Alan for that sake) if you feel it should be re-opened for further discussion. Thank you.
