Did you not read the thread? That's what I was responding to. The comment that Einstein is a real genius. I was pointing out that I feel there are different types of geniuses and they were geniuses in their field. So your pointing out to me that Einstein was a genius in a whole other discipline is just reiterating what I just said. Your reading comprehension needs work.
didnt YOU say could Einstein write "Hey Jude" ?..one of the most ridiculous assertions I ever read in here. So you were comparing disiplines...unbelievable.
(ps: I dont need "reading comprehension" work--I have a masters in comparative Lit. from Univ. of Pitt, 1987) I wonder how I managed that if I cant comprehend....*shrugs*)
and "rude"?? how so ? I'm just defending John against the detractors...obviously a full-time occupation in some quarters

Go back and read the thread. I didn't bring Einstein up. Someone else did. I was using that as an example to show that there IS no comparison. That geniuses can come from different fields. Was I actually expecting Einstein to write a pop song? You have no idea what point I was making there? You made the same point yourself. Whatever. So yes, you do have trouble comprehending and you are rude. If you don't see "how so" then I don't know what else to say to you.

You made an allusion to Einstein....so you're wrong again. I never said you actually thought Einstein would write a pop song..I'm saying you're analogy was ridiculous. I dont understand your point because you HAD none. You dont seem educated. Your syntax and lack of understanding for the generalized assertion made here show this completely. I dont care at all if you think I'm rude. I'm rude only to ignorant ppl...draw your own conclusions. And btw, OFF TOPIC--to show your hypocracy, wasnt it YOU who defended the racist remarks of Howard Stern a while back concerning Yoko ...try denying that. But you say I'M rude???????? How fair is that?? Look, if you dont like me, that's 100% ok--I dont like you much either. Just be an adult, and agree to disagree and leave me alone. I think that's the fairest I can be. I have no respect for you. Dont go away mad..just GO AWAY.. yuk....
You seem to be rather FOND of italics and CAPTIALS.
Ahem. Now that I'm done being immature, I would like to say something: The word "genius" is thrown around far too often nowadays. For instance, I often hear that Steve Jobs is a "genius" for inventing what is basically an updated version of the Walkman, or that Steven Colbert is a "genius" for making fun of politicians.
Were Lennon and McCartney geniuses of rock and roll? Well, I don't know. But one thing is for sure: they were both very gifted and no one has come close to matching them yet. Let's face it, they just weren't the same when they went solo. They needed to feed off each other (and George and Ringo) to create that perfect musical fusion that we know as the Beatles.
BTW, I think Paul's lyrics were pretty good too (though his solo lyrics often leave something to be desired). Do you think "Let It Be" was great because of the melody alone? What ROT.
You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

Yes I am. I like to use them for emphasis, I also know how to spell "CAPITALS"
and yes, Let it Be is great for its melody and lyrics...when did I say it wasnt ? My contention was there are exceptions to the rule..but generally Paul's lyrics dont come up to John's as a rule. Sorry 'bout that.
Capitals. Geez, it was a freaking typo. I find your writing style very hard to read. You don't have use italics and CAPITALS in every post, just the same as you don't have to end every sentence with an exclamation point! (Not that you do this, this is just an example.)
And sorry, but I disagree with you on the lyrics part. John wrote some great lyrics and he wrote some really crap ones, just the same as Paul. Just because he wrote about politics, that doesn't make them any better.

I know, was just teasin' (at Myspace I make 20 typos per second) no sweat.

that's ok...you dont seem accusatory when you disagree, like others have been. Appreciated.
Yes, all great artists have flops and classics--I dont disagree about that--FAR FROM IT--you think I like all John's stuff? lol...no way, Jose (I cant stand listening to "Mind Games" for instance--the song bores me..but on the other hand "Imagine" & "In My Life" can reduce a person to tears, I feel.) And no, I dont think it makes John "better" because his work involved more politics...if I gave that impression, I apologize. I just feel that for many years Paul has been on a needless crusade to promote himself over John and I just feel he doesnt have to do this because he's (PM) already an icon....
Hey, I'd like to dedicate this next post to a certain someone who really knows how brighten up the place:
Here's a tip for you: if you would LIKE someone to leave you alone, don't keep RESPONDING to them. My original post in the whole GENIUS discussion wasn't even directed at YOU. Here's another idea. Put me on ignore as I will do with YOU. There, problem solved. Now you don't have to read my horrible syntax and uneducated opinions. Your name calling was OUTSTANDING by the way. I hope it made you feel better about yourself. At least then I would feel as if I did something for my fellow man. You can go back to banging your fists on your chest now. I won't BOTHER you anymore. Have a nice day.
It's disgusting to many long-time Beatle fans to see Paul act so unabashedly petty. But I suppose all shortcomings are forgiven when it comes to Sir Macca, but where Lennon is concerned, out comes the rope. It smacks of hypocracy to me..but then, what do I know?...I'm bias aint I ?
Mate please - I don't think anyone who has argued against you has tried to put Paul above John, rather I think I'm safe in saying as Beatles they are generally regarded as equals. I think Paul is a self serving prat, but so was John. In fact plenty of people I know are self-serving prats. We're not trying to put Paul on pedestal, just to pull John down off his. I guess one man's humanitarian is anothers dillusional self-publicist.
I think i got the right name for this thread maybe i should have just called it " Posturing " It's a bit sad it's got a bit personal , there as been some good stuff written . And the fact that a group nearly 40 years gone can ignite such passion is great , so don't fallout " IT'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL "
I was listening to " Golden Earth Girl " this morning and i thought what a beatiful melody it is from Paul , then i listend to the lyrics and thought i wish John was here to tidy them up , all that " eggshell seas and eggshell finish " John would have sorted out for Paul and Paul would have done the same for John if it was a good song of his . That's why so few of The Beatles songs are rubbish they worked well together .
Kevin (Mean Mr. Mustard) I really think you need to calm down. Start reading what people are actually saying in their posts. Your responses are beginning to sound like they're coming from a spoilt child, which is no good for discussion. I've been very tempted to respond to several of your posts this morning, but I really don't see the point anymore. You are missing the point, and taking things the wrong way in nearly every post that's been made. And you're clearly taking this far more personally than you should be, to the extent that you're coming over at times, as quite rude.
One last thing. Please try to tone down the use of italics, capitals, exclamation marks, and the like. They make posts very difficult too read. As you told Sandra that you had a Masters in Comparative Literature, do you think you could make use of some of that expertise to express yourself without constantly resorting to such things. Thank You.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Capitals & italics? Berating & typo corrections? Smells of Ydoll/Maria to me round here. Really enjoyed some of the points raised but don't care that passionately for the subject matter.
I'd like to point out, and you can read it on page six, that I only got personal when I was personally attacked. I got two very rude replies from comments not eve directed towards this person. Comments which were not in the least bit nasty I might add. It's only then that I pointed out his rudeness. I noticed that others have made not so nice comments to his as well and long before I did yet not recieving half the wrath that I was so kindly offered. So if I got out of line, I apologize. Although I have seen recent comments much worse than mine and I was only defending myself. No one else seemed to want to call this person on the attacks. Anyway, I will now refrain from further commenting. Thanks for the support.
