This is for my own karma really, as I feel I've been a tad negative lately. I do actually like The Beatles you know. Just a few; Lennon/McCartney are the greatest songwriting duo ever, of any time or any place. They are the coolest most photogenic band of all time. Rubber Soul is my favourite album of all time. McCartney is a bassist par excellence After 40 years Lennons vocal on a Day In The Life still sends a shiver down my spine and Walrus is genius. George has great hair. Tomorrow Never Knows is a work of genius in combining unlistenable avante garde with pop. Rain, Hey Jude, Eleanor Rigby, Ticket To ride, Paperback Writer......
You can play six Beatles albums in a row and never skip a track. You can do the housework to Rubber Soul and enjoy it. You have to give Paul and Ringo points for not ever doing a real job and getting to pension age. John liked cats. George produced some good films
I should probably add to this, as I suspect that there are a few people here who think I don't like The Beatles at all!
You can listen to ANY Beatles album, and enjoy the housework.
Though I'm often critical of Lennon's solo career, he seems to have written most of my favourite Beatles songs.
If it hadn't been for The Beatles, I probably would not have got into music at such a young age. Therefore I'd probably have ended up a Chris De Burgh fan!
The opening riff to Paperback Writer is still the best I've ever heard.
I first got talking to Mrs BM because of The Beatles.
I seem to have 'met' some very nice people on a Beatles forum!
PS. Great thread Kev!

Hey guys, this is nice.
I never fail to enjoy running my fingers over the very same incredible fret patterns they employed. There is no place like home.....The Beatles are my musical home. never fail to enjoy singing every harmony at one time or another. They are just so darn bloody admirable. After all these years i am still not bored of them.

And you can't say that about many artists. I'm not bored with The Kinks either, but then I've probably only listened to them about a tenth of the amount of time.

Yep. Even on the few occassions I find them bad (Maxwells Silver Hammer, Octopuses Garden, Only A Northern Song, Good Morning Good Morning) they always stay interesting. Except Savoy Truffle. Damn. But if you're ever in a quiz about Beatle songs that check place names Montelimar is always good for a sneeky point.
the beatles are the coolest and most interesting band what other band could i dedicate a whole day to watching a listening to there stuff ? they have the greatest songwriting team ever the best bassist ever ( maybe not technically but melodically appealing to my taste) trend setters there music can shift my mood like no other band The Beatles got me through a very tough time. they saved me.
and brought me to here
Fantastic thread but i dont think youre alone quite a few us have all been a little negative on the beatles lately pointing out there flaws or nitpicking rather than celebrating what they did do and what they gave us. also ive been hardest on George in a lot of topics and would like to add George was a great person more than anything, had great feeling in his music, had great dance moves and was always witty in interviews.

That's all part of the fun when people start hero worshipping! But it makes a change to have a 'love in'!
Btw fenders, where did you get the images for your sig? I've seen them before, of course, but never as drop tones like that.

"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."
"I'm Joe English and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland." xD
Three brilliant songwriter/performers and a drummer who laid the foundation for all their unsurpassed records
