I'm a bit of a cult movie fan , so i thought i would starte a thread devoted to the genre . So if you can recommed a film or would like to discuss it please feel free to do so .
My first film i would like to recommend is  " Demon Seed " from 1977 it stars Julie Christe and Fritz Weaver and is based on the novel of the same name by Dean .R koontz . It's directed by Donald Cammel who also co-directed Performance ( 1970) with Nicolas Roeg which stared Mick Jagger.
Demon Seed is a futuristic thriller and center's around a roeg computer called Proteas who traps Christe in her house and forces her to have a computer baby .
It's a cracking film full of suspense and brilliant special effects for the time , Christe gives a stunning performance . Proteas the PC as one of the weirdest vocies and illustrates what can happen if computers take control , it's a new breed of PC half organic and half machine . The film points to the future and is totally believable . This film came out at the same time as Star Wars and diappeard without a trace , ive only seen it on the TV once , but you can get it on DVD , i bought it just before Christmas and have watched it a good half a dozen times since it's a real favourite .
So if you want something to fill you with suspense and make you think and quite fancy watching Julie Christe in her prime , check this  film out   i give it 8 out of 10

Dazed and Confused and Detroit Rock City are two awesome cult movies.

I love cult movies , mostley asian extreme , Old Boy , Lady Vengence , The Eye etc, [ not the under counter ones]

Demon Seed , i know this film well , its Sci fi and you know ...
Its a very unnerving climax [ sorry] when the leading lady gets in a uncompromising postion with a computer  

I was supprised that Demon Seed is only a fifteen Mr Kite , some of it is quite near the knuckle ?
I've not seen much Asian stuff just the odd film on film four .

Nothing beats a classic 'b' movie, for me. In fact, pretty much anything that contains random acts of violence, exposed internal organs, and gratuitous foul language. All at the same time.

There have been some movies that are so awful, that in there supreme awfulness they somehow become brilliant cinema. Here is a selection of my favourites:

The Green Slime: A space station crawling with the stuff. Absolutely terrible sci-fi.
From Hell It Came: Nuclear fallout brings a dead islander to life as a walking tree!
The Creeping Terror: Killer karpets from outer space!
The Swarm: Killer bees attack residents in a small town preparing for a flower festival.

And of course, the classic 'b' movie of all time: Plan 9 From Outer Space.

When it comes to cult films, I tend to go for the more campy fare. I too am a fan of Plan 9- it's so bad, yet so sweetly enthusiastic about itself. I also like The Killer Shrews (actually dogs dressed up in rugs) and Monster A-Go-Go. Aside from science fiction, there's Rocky Horror, Phantom of the Paradise, and Mommie Dearest.

I enjoyed the Boris Karloff film 'The Sorcerers' and also 'Witchfinder General.' At a science fiction convention recently I bought a DVD of a film called 'Five.' But I suppose my all time favourites are both TV series and films of the first three Quatermass tales 'The Quatermass Experiment', 'Quatermass 11' and 'Quatermass And The Pit', although they were known by different names in America. Also interesting is 'The Stone Tapes' with Jane Asher. She also made a weird but intriguing movie called 'The Deep End.'
I've started buying up all the original Fifties sci-fi movies: 'The Thing From Another World', 'It Came From Outer Space', 'When Worlds Collide', 'The Day The Earth Stood Still', 'War Of The Worlds', 'The Invasion of the Body Snatchers', 'Forbidden Planet' etc

How about some of the songs from cult movies. such as the one in 'Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes': 'I Know I'm Gonna Miss Her, A Tomato Ate My Sister.' Or some cult movie titles: Once Upon a Girl; Pinocchio in Outer Space; Revenge of the Teenage Vixens from Outer Space; Attack of the Giant Horny Gorilla; Chopping Mall; For A Few Lousy Dollars; For Your Height Only; I Wonder Who’s Killing Her Now;

I love  " Quatermass And The Pit " Bill Harry , i recently got that on DVD it's a great film .
Did'nt Jane Asher do a horror with Vincent Price ? think it might have been called " Mask Of The Red Death " or something like that ?

Mairi two campy  " Hammer Horror " ones ive just got are  " The Anniversary " with Bette Davis playing a psycho mother complete with eye patch she's really wicked in this an absolute horror and  "Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde " both these are directed by Roy Ward Baker who also directed  "Quatermass And The Pitt " , im trying to get all his films he's a brillant director

LOL thanks BlueMeanie ive seen this film many years ago i thought Jane Asher was in it , did'nt know it was from an Edgar Allen Poe storey though, i will look out for that one .

Anything with Vincent Price in is worth watching. You can't beat that camp menace!

I have some good pics of Jane Asher in 'The Masque of the Red Death'. When I learn how to put images here I'll post them. This was the first of the Roger Corman/Vincent Price Edgar Allen Poe series to be filmed in England and was actually based on two different Poe stories. Nicolas Roag was the cinematographer. Incidentally, Price made several horror movies in England.
How about: Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town. A group of lesbian bikers called the Cycle Sluts decide to tour America. They come across a town inhabited by zombies and with the aid of a group of blind children and a dwarf they destroy the zombies with machine guns, whips, chains and dynamite.
Or: Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Set in contemporary times, when Jesus Christ, accompanied by El Santos, a Mexican wrestler, attempts to save the lesbians of Vancouver from vampires. The Hammerheads provide a number of songs on the soundtrack, including ‘Everybody Gets Laid Tonight.’

Did you know that the little girl who comes across the alien in 'The Quatermass Xperiment' was Jane Asher?
