Oh go on!!

I'll post it, but I just know it won't go over big here. I for one find it hysterical. So maybe that says more about me than I'd like. Oh well, I love warped humor. If you liked the original Dawn of the Dead, you make like this. I don't know. It's commentary on the violence American loving public really. And it's done in a very satirical way that a lot of people just don't find funny! Plus it's clearly a B movie and you have to have a taste for those. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but here it is if you feel like watching. Hee. Oh, if you don't know what the background story is, you might not understand the clip. Here's a plot synopsis I found:

More delightfully sick humor from Bartel (EATING RAOUL). In a boorish future, the government sponsors a popular, but bloody, cross-country race in which points are scored by mowing down pedestrians--with bonus points for the elderly! Five teams, each comprised of a male and female, compete using cars equipped with deadly weapons. Frankenstein, the mysterious returning champion, has become America's hero, but this time he has a passenger from the underground resistance. A legendary cult film.

That announcer guy is the best. I just CANNOT imagine a remake in this overly political correct age. It's gonna be so watered down and empty. Oh well.

American violence! This guy's great:

It is a '70s rock musical by Brian De Palma based on the Phantom of the Opera, with a little bit of Dorian Grey thrown in there.

I wonder if Sweeney Todd will become a cult movie. It didn't do very well at the theater, but I thought it was great. Good cult movie potential but not a B movie budget. Does it qualify? Or do cult movies have to be low budget stuff?

How about this piece I wrote about another bizarre movie:
Cannibal! The Musical. Based on the true story of Alan Packer, who was the only man in American history to be jailed for cannibalism. During a trip in Colorado territory he ate his companions to survive. A bizarre theme for a musical which features songs such as “Shpadoinkle Day,” “Hang the Bastard, Hang ‘Em High,” “Let’s Build A Snowman” and “When I Was On Top of You.”  Taglines in the promotion of the film included: “Lost without food, they must turn to the ultimate horror…EATING EACH OTHER…and, of course SINGING AND DANCING,” and “All singing! All dancing! All flesh-eating!”
In 1874 Packer led an expedition to search for gold and murdered and ate the miners in his camp. This was also the theme of another film: “Devoured: The Legend of Alfred Packer.”

I adore this movie! I have it on DVD, and have pressed it on too many visitors because it's just too funny! This is a delicious piece of irony, spoofing other musicals as well as the historical Alferd Packer story. The great bit is that they did their homework; many of the scenes are filmed in the actual locations, outdoors or courtroom, that Packer was in. The action follows (roughly) Packer's actual journey. The journalist love interest is a real historical person. The songs are brilliant and will have you singing along for days. Highly recommended.

All you've got to do is choose love.  That's how I live it now.  I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden.  I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007

Naw, big budget movies can be cult hits. See Mommie Dearest or Howard the Duck. Sweeny Todd won't become a cult movie though, in my opinion. It already had a fan base as a Broadway musical. Plus the addition of Johnny Depp brings in the tweentard audience.

Are teens still into Johnny Depp? That's hysterical. I was into Johnny Depp as a teen and that was a hundred and ten years ago. Or so it seems. He should do the Picture of Dorian Gray remake.

Go to http://www.fan-fiction.net and EVERY movie with Johnny Depp will feature at least 20 fics with a self-insert Mary Sue and gratuitous sex scenes.

He just has a power over women.

Yeah, before 21 Jump Street even. I hated when he got killed! Cool death scene though.

Just watched "The Thing Called Love " (1993) on DVD which was River Phoneix's last completed film , i'd never heard of this movie , it's a brilliant little film about four friends trying to make it in Nashville .
It star's Samantha Mathis ,Dermot Mulroney and a young Sandra Bullock in an early film role . It's a complicated love story with River Phoenix and Mulroney chasing Samantha Mathis ,who plays a budding country singer called Miranda Presley.
The performances from all four actors are great , Phoenix and Mathis inparticular shine as the mixed up lovers .
But what i really liked his the singing from the stars who all perform songs that they wrote , i never knew Sandra Bullock could sing? and River Phoenix is a revalation what great voice he had ,he sings four numbers , i vaugly rememberd he was a bit of a musician but had never heard him sing , and this is the only film he made were he sings .
The film is directed by Peter Bogdanovich who made " The Last Picture Show " in the 70's , in the interview he talks about how the film as become a cult movie and i can see why . Also there are some great extras there's a fascinating interview with a moody and intense Phoenix which is very interesting , it's  strange seeing him just 3 months before he would die outside Johnny Depps club The Vipper Room of drug induced heart attack at the age of 23.
It's well worth a watch this film , great performances , great  songs and singing , it's one i will watch again and again

River Phoenix as James Wright doing one of his musical numbers .
