Just think of the famous stars who were in low budget horror movies in their early career, such as Steve McQueen in 'The Blob' and Clint Eastwood in 'Tarantula.' Clint was the pilot who vaporised the arachnid at the end of the film. Guess who was the sniper who put paid to 'The Beast From 50,000 Fathoms'?

not sure all these would be considered cults, but i love them.
I bought a copy of the new 2 disc " A Clockwork Orange " the other day it's packed full of very interesting extra documentaries , there's a great one called "0 Lucky Malcolm " which is a very detailed profile of Malcolm McDowell's career he talks at great length and is so funny , never knew he was such a witty man , it's great viewing and the film still packs a powerfull punch . Kubrick really was a genius .
Clash Of The Titans owes a lot to the work of Harry Harryhausen, whose stop-motion work on several films he made in Britain were great for their time. My personal favourite was Jason & the Argonauts - and the fight with the skeletons was wquite impressive. He was also involved in the series of Sinbad movies

Interesting list; and I'll certainly agree with you on Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Ed Wood, and Easy Rider. Don't see the appeal of The Black Hole, though. Thanks for the heads up on the others; some of them sound interesting.

Yes...! I saw Jason and The Argonauts years ago, and that skeleton scene is the thing I remember most clearly. I think Harryhausen, along with Gerry Anderson, was perhaps the best FX man prior to the seventies...?
Anyone seen " The Man Who Haunted Himself " ? it's got Roger Moore in a rare acting role , he does battle with his doppelganger , it's pre - Bond and very good .
I saw "Pan's Labyrinth " last night which is a Spanish film ,it's subtitled but that did'nt detract from the fact that it's truely a masterpiece of fantasy film making .

It is a great film DaveRam . The Director and writer Del Toro is doing the 2 Hobbitt films , it should be good
Read the latest Story of Albert and find out the truth of The Battle Of Hastings and where it all went wrong for the English and indoor plumbing . @

God I loved all of the movies as a kid. They were pretty big at some point in the seventies. I think some were re released in theaters. That skeleton fighting scene in Jason and the Argonauts still amazes me. It's just so cool!
Are Easy Rider and Bonnie and Clyde cult movies? Weren't they huge? I think Bonnie and Clyde must have had a pretty decent budget too. I hate Easy Ryder, but it really did have a profound impact on the movie industry.
