There's a couple of threads about Paul's compilations that now I want to talk about this one! You like this album? I absolutely love it! Reminds me that wonderful day when I bought it along with 1970's McCartney -- those were my first 2 Paul albums, and then I realize that I needed to buy his entire catalog (I'm in the middle of that ).

Here some nice pictures from the different editions of All The Best!

The Charts

UK CHART RUN
Date: 14/11/1987 - Run:  2-2-4-5-4-5-6- (7 wsf)
02/01/1988: 7-9-14-22-25-33-36-44-51-70-82-81-82 (20/9 wks)
Re #01: 11/06/1988 74 (1 wk, 21 wsf)
Re #02: 22/03/1997 162-172 (2 wks, 23 wsf)
Re #03: 24/09/2005 182 (1 wk)
Total # of weeks: 24-20c (Top 10: 9, Top 20: 10 Top 40: 14 Top 75: 1 [i]

In the UK it was #2 for 2 weeks, knocked-off the top spot in its first week by George Michael's "Faith" and then by Tpaus "Bridge of spies". Certification: 3xPlatinum

US CHART RUN
[i]Date: 19/12/1987 - Run: 120-72-72-*62*-62-62-68-72-82-95-99-109-110-129-140-167-163 (17 wks)

In the US it was #62 and it was knocked-off the top spot by everybody. Certification: 2xPlatinum

The album was released on November 2, 1987 in the UK, the SAME DAY as George Harrison's "Cloud Nine". Isn't it funny? Even more interesting is this fact:
"All The Best!" reached #2 in the UK album charts, and its single, "Once Upon A Long Ago", #10. (Last Paul's Top 10 single...)
"Cloud Nine" did exactly the opposite: it reached #10 in the UK album charts, and its lead single, the huge hit "Got My Mind Set on You" was #2 in the singles charts.
I bet nobody noticed that before.

It's a good collection, but I remember standing at the rack in HMV when it came out looking at both the US and UK editions and being cheezed off that neither version had both "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Junior's Farm" on it. Wingspan has both, but "Junior's" is the radio edit version!

The inner gatefold for the UK edition is sweet.

"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."

"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."

"I'm Joe English and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland." xD

I dont even own it.

I guess it would be ok for a person who was only going to buy one album from Paul and that was it.

I like to buy a greatest-hits collection as my first album for a certain artist, and then, if I like it, I start to buy the rest of the discography.

I agree. I mean, your going to or have heard everyone of those damn songs on the radio anyways. The only time I buy any 'Best Of' cd's is if there's one or two songs offered on it that arent offered any where else.

I'm from Buenos Aires. Believe me, if I want some Paul material, I need to buy it. The radios don't put his songs as much as they have to.
