Here's an interesting (and fun) Beatley exercise...

Post Beatles break-up, John Lennon said something to the effect of that those people clamouring for a Beatles reuninon could just put their own Beatles album together - one track from a Lennon solo album, another from one of Paul's, one from George's and so on...

In this age of iPods this is now an intriguing possibility, and putting together 1970s Beatles albums are surprisingly satisfying. To my ears, for example, the first 1970s Beatles album, possibly called 'Instant Karma', would have had the following tracks on it...

Side 1
1 Instant Karma
2 Every Night
3 Isolation
4 My Sweet Lord
5 Junk
6 Jealous Guy
7 Maybe I'm Amazed

Side 2
1 Too Many People
2 Love
3 Imagine
4 Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
5 All Things Must Pass
6 The Back Seat of My Car
7 Oh My Love

And I think it would have made a good album too!

I would have preferred Side 2 to Side 1...Anyone got any thoughts for other 70s Beatles albums? Post 'em below!

Sorry, but we've done imaginary 70's Beatle albums to death here. It's as popular as the continually reborn "White album as a single disc" thread.
But - breaking up was surely one of their smartest moves. They are now forever linked with the sixties and no other time, to the point that they are used to define the whole generation. Secondly they never went bad. No cringing attempts at trying to remain contempory.

It may have been a good thing that they broke up.   I mean it's like a sitcom...its a really great show but they just drag it on and on until its no longer great like it used to be and then its magic is gone.  They broke up with their magic still going strong.  I don't know, just a thought.

Argh, so true. I actually had a dream about this the other night-- I did! The Beatles came back as old guys in their sixties, trying to do an Eagles-type reunion. They all came onstage with gray hair, trying to be jolly. It was painfully sad.

It would have made a good 70s sit-com!   With Yoko "breaking" up the band every coupla years.  And Paul going, "Aww, Wally!!!"  And John going, "Now, now, Beav . . . ."

the beatles split up when they were still making amazing music. it is like a great sitcom ending on a high note before,
any bad ones are made. the beatles could have carried on through the 70's making some not so good records.   who
knows. they all realised they coundn't go any further.

I thought I saw your curtain twitching.
But you see I'd rather state the bleeding obvious than nothing at all. Love to chat to Beatle people.
I'm honoured to have dragged you out of retirement.

Well I do look around and see if there is anything decent to say.

Usually there isn't.

I just want to know who deleted my picture and why they did it.

Then I shall leave you to talk endlessly about everything that has been said before.

I agree that the break up was kind of a good thing.  All the music made was amazing and it didn't get to that stagnant point.
Though it could have been interesting to see what the further collaberation of the four would have given us.

And wasn't that Kevin's point? And if you want to know how to post a picture properly, ask an adult.

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
