Hey all you very literate computer gurus.  I have a question for you.....
How do you get back on a forum board if you're kicked off, as in "ex-member"???  Can you do it from the same computer without the admin knowing it the same person????  Just curious because my hubby got kicked off his hunting forum.  Any help would be thankful!!

if the forum admins can check his ip they will know he is the same person, also youll need to use a new email that doesnt resemble the old one or that will be obvious.

if you have a router then they wont know its youre husband as the router auto assigns a fake ip address like 192.168......

he will need to make a new login as his old one will be banned regardless of what pc he signs in on.

Thanks for the info fender.  He can do that, or, can he go to his sister's house and use her computer to activate an entire new account/name and then come home and use the new logins on the site????  He wants back on that board so bad!!!

depending on the the forum, he can probably just make a new account on his own pc i would think unless they've banned his ip aswell as his account name ?

if its just his account name then tell him just to make another account using another email address, whether or not they know it is him once he has made his account all depends on whether or not they look at his ip and recognize it as his but chances are they probs never looked at his original one as it wouldn't have been necessary.

It's all down to whether they recognise him by user name, e-mail address, IP address, or all three. Simply setting up a new account at someone else's computer won't do it because as soon as he logs in at home his IP address may be visable. If he can change his IP address at will, then no problem.

I expect when they threw him off they made a note of his IP.

Why did he get thrown off?

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

^^^^^^About a couple of weeks ago.  I just told him to "chill" for a while and then do something.  I'm just looking at my options.  This happened to me on ebay several years ago when I was selling a designer purse that "looked" like this designer's purse.  They threw me off.  But then I waited 6-8 months and used my hubby's email address and got back on, no problem and never had problems since.  And that was using the same IP code.  So I'm just looking at what I can do.  He can only get on the board as a "guest", but he's dying to post.  I just said "wait".  Thanks all of you for all your input.

If you're on a proxy server you'd have to contact your internet provider and ask them to do it for you. If you have you own Cable/DSL Modem, try unplugging it for 5 minutes, then reconnecting. This might work. There's some useful info here:

http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/how-do-I-change-my-ip-address

Mind you, not all sites work by recognising IP addresses. I recently had my account suspended at Wordpress. Today I was able to open a new one using a different name and e-mail address, though same IP!

if youre ip is causing you problems and you realyl have no other solution you could always hide youre ip address and use a proxy program which will assign you a fake proxy.

ive used it before and they can slow yourei nterent speeds down so i would only use it if all else fails

HOW ON EARTH DO YOU GET VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE!
it's simple I want ONE video, maybe more, to put on my IPod. I mean is it that much to ask. and the video isn't on google!

Now..........another question for the "computer gurus" out there..........see, I'm a blonde and kinda dumb...LOL...anyways...........Our main computer is in our kitchen/dining area.....DSL/Broadband-high speed connection, AOL is our IP.  Our son, Greg, has our old computer in his bedroom.  No internet.  Well, for the second time the darn thing is on the "blink" and I'm not paying $150+ to have it fixed.  I going to buy a new one tomorrow, just the tower.  But this is what I want to know..............how do I hook my son's computer up to our internet in the kitchen and not pay extra to the service???  Is a router used???  I want to know how to do this.  See, my Greg is going to be in the fifth grade next year and you wouldn't believe what they wanted the fourth graders to do on the computer this year!!!!  Greg's bedroom and my south wall in the kitchen share the same wall.  Can we use wireless????  You guys have been so good and helpful to me.  Give me some input before I head out to the stores tomorrow.  Many, many thanks!!!
