On the "Whitology" CD Paul states that they had no recordings of jets, and that he did a good impression of one and precedes to do so. But the Recording The Beatles book says that a tape of jet noise was in fact used. Was Paul only joking, or did the authors not elaborate that the tape was of Paul? Is it Paul making a noise or an actual recording?

I think they got it from taping the audience at this concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3pQhwHnNMY&feature=related

I love John,
I love Paul,
And George and Ringo,
I love them all!

I've always wondered about that.

Quoted from Lewisohn:

"These sounds were taken from the Abbey Road effects collection, Volume 17: Jet And Piston Engine Aeroplane." Friday 23rd August, 1968.

McCartney's memory - as was John's before him - is often selective, and unreliable.

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

I can't recall that Paul really said it was him doing the jet noise. He said he could do an imitation. But maybe I have a selective memory.

I don't really think anyone could do a jet imitation that good.

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.
