Liverpool Councillor Bradley said, "Liverpool and the Beatles go hand-in-hand and it's great we are going to have a day to celebrate them and their huge contribution to the city."

Mop top mania is going to our head ahead of Beatles Day

LIVERPOOL schools are doing their bit to ensure the world’s first Beatles Day is top class.

The city’s pupils and teachers will join thousands of Fab Four fans to mark July 10 by wearing mop tops.

Liverpool schools are already adding the Fab Four to their timetables and putting on their wigs in preparation.

Notre Dame Catholic College, in Everton Valley, will spend Thursday with four 14ft Beatles puppets parading around its grounds.

All 1,047 pupils will also wear their 1960s clothes and will perform a Beatles inspired show called A Sixties Dream in the evening.

Several schools have already begun their celebrations, with three Speke schools joining together for some pre-Beatles Day fun.

Year seven pupils at Parklands High joined year six pupils from Stockton Wood County primary and Middlefield County primary to learn some Fab Four-style moves.

The 120 pupils went to Parklands City Learning Centre wearing mop top wigs and learnt to twist to Love Me Do, the band’s first hit single.

Ian Andain, head at Broadgreen High and chairman of the Liverpool Schools Forum, said he hoped classrooms across the city would be equally awash with Beatles wigs this Thursday.

He said: “I think this is a great idea and something I’m sure all schools will want to support. Personally, I am a big Beatles fan and listen to them at least once a month. My favourite song is Love Me Do. I was instantly captivated.”

Schoolchildren in Norway will also be taking part in the fun. Visiting students from Stavanger donned the mop top wigs while in the city. They also took a load home with the promise to celebrate in the classroom on the big day.

Well, I think that's cool.  So July 10 is "Beatle Day"????  I'll have to wear my Beatle boots somewhere that day............and shirt.........and hat............and purse......and watch.....

Really? That`s incredible! Though better to mark it not in summer... all my friends are on holiday, somewhere at the seaside...better during the year to celebrate it at work by having a great party or if the boss objects - a modest party... and then a great party at some club!
