B*stard is a no no in Britain yet i hear it all the time on US Sitcoms

Doesn't it depend on the context? Maybe it's allowed if they're actually talking about someone who technically is a bastard? The same thing could obviously go for a word like 'b****'.

Yeah, you can get away with pretty much anything on Dutch TV. One of the public channels even broadcasted "Deep Throat" last year. So basically they used tax money to broadcast a hardcore porn movie. Needless to say that not everybody was too happy with that.

That's funny considering what else can air. They say it here all the time. Along with b**** and various other tame curse words. After 9 or 10 you can hear the f-word on Comedy Central. The only reason I know this is because I watch South Park. If I watch after a certain time, they don't bleep. I have NEVER heard the C-word on regular t.v. though. I think that's considered worse than the f-word over here. Nudity is another matter altogether. We're way too uptight over here. The most the guys get is a side boob. And the girls might get a butt shot every now and then. But usually by some obese old guy, so it's really not worth it in the end.

Well, I'm pretty sure you can't say anything along the lines of, "F YOU Mr. President" on tv. lol
When this came across my mind, I was just like man.....
If only i were on tv.
hahah

Wouldn't that just be a shocker to see?! Actually, scratch that, more like an unforgettable moment for the great American television as we know it.

They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe.
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me."

Same in Denmark. I'm not a prude, but it does annoy me sometimes. I get angry when I see an X-rated movie trailer at 10 o'clock in the morning when all the kids are watching. No wonder all the Danish kids grow up swearing like fu**ing troopers!

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Yea, american tv is usually very censored.  They do get away with more stuff later at night.  Like Sandra said, South Park gets away with alot of stuff.  And I have noticed that the comedy channel late at night will have comedians and they won't bleep out the curse words.

It doesn't bother me but like BM said, when there are little kids around, it's not cool.  And yes the parents should be watching them but you cannot watch ever second. I dunno.... That's what the cable channels like HBO and stuff are for, no censorship.  Just look at Skinamax oops I mean Cinemax
