Well, ...
Favourite movies for me are ones that "touch my heart" or something like that, so as much as I like watching "Life of Brian" or "lethal weapon" or "10 thing I hate about you", "Back to future", "Indiana Jones (expecially the last crussade)" "mr and Mrs Smith" "Forrest gump""Shrek" or many many more I don't include them in my list.

So here we go (no particular order)

Much ado about nothing (I think my all time favourit, so cheerful ans full of live, and the crosstalks between Beatrice and Benedict are hilarious)
Legends of the fall
Pride and predudice (1980 BBC series) (and other Jane Austen adaptions)
Ronja the rubbers doughter (yes, I admit that, THE movie of my childhood, and I can still watch it aged 29)
Dead Poets Society (THE movie of my teen years, no DVDs yet but a friend had video taped it and we were 4 girls passing it along between us and screaming at the sight of Robert Sean Leonard)
Lord of the rings (I was at the university at that time and waiting for every new picture or any new information right from the announcement of the filming with some friends; the extended versions are great and I love the appendecies almost as mutch as the movies)
Beyond silence
Out of africa
chocolat
Fried green tomatoes

Probably missed an obvious one ...

And yes, top 50 or 100 would be more easy for sure

My top 10 movies are movies that I could watch again right now even though I've already seen them at least 10 times (which goes for most of the movies in my list).

Naturally I see what you mean. I myself have to be in the right mood for a certain film, whitch means that I'm dying to watch a movie one evening and don't feel to keen watching it some other time. That even applies for my favorite movies.

Of course I like watching my favourite movies over and over again and I've seen every film on my list countless times, I just wanted to say that I'm not in the mood for say "Out of africa" every single day. So in my case thats not the only criterion when makeing the list.
