Out the Blue

I heard this on Beatlearama the other night.  It started out as a really cool solo guitar accompaniment in the vein of "Julia" or "Blackbird" (with chord changes similar to "Sexy Sadie") then a full band comes in and sorta destroys the mood and the acoustic guitar gets lost.

Anybody know anything about this song?

this weekend it is Imagine.  My 4-year old son was in the backseat of the car when I played "Imagine" on the CD player, and after the song was over, he asked if I could play it again.  and again.  and again.

So, when we get home, I put on the music video for "Imagine" for him.  He watches it, a little frightened by the fog and the sight of two strangers walking slowly through it.  Anyway, then the song in the video started up, and he relaxed a little and enjoyed it.  Of course, when the video was over, he asked if I could play it again.  and again.  and again.

So yeah, its "Imagine" this week.

Bring on the Lucie (Freeda Peeple)

My god I LOVE this song. Why is it that it's never played anywhere!!?? Wonder if anyone's covered it. It seems relevant even now.

We don't care what flag you're waving
We don't even want to know your name
We don't care where you're from or where you're going
All we know is that you came
You're making all our descisions
We have just one request of you
That while you're thinking things over
Here's something you just better do

Free the people now
Do it do it do it now

Well we were caught with our hands in the air
Don't despair paranoia is everywhere
We can shake it with love when we're scared
So let's shout it aloud like a prayer

We understand your paranoia
But we don't want to play your game
You think you're cool and know what you are doing
666 is your name
So while you're jerking off each other
You better bear this thought in mind
Your time is up you better know it
But maybe you don't read the signs

Well you were caught with your hands in the kill
And you still got to swallow your pill
As you slip and you slide down the hill
On the blood of the people you killed

Stop the killing now
Do it do it do it now
Bring on the Lucie

"Well Well Well" from Plastic Ono Band.

I took my loved one to a big field
So we could watch the English sky
We both were nervous feeling guilty
And neither one of us knew just why

i may, just may have to agree with you. i've always prefered listening to the acoustic
version's of Double Fantasy than the album strangely.

Same here, cause I think DOuble Fantasy is very weak altogether expect for Watching the Wheels, Beautiful Boy, and the big hits from that album.

Yeah I knew all of that about Johnny Cash.  It's just the sound of his voice, I could hear him singing it.  But not the younger Johnny, older, like around the time of Hurt.

Yes, no replacing him, pc31! Talented, extraordinary, witty, contraversial, sarcastic, the best vocal for me, handsome- all is there. The Great Briton. Why do great people die so early? I understand you: there`s noone else to love so much...They all come and go but he stays.
I also enjoyed listening to Julian. I don`t like the way he looked when he was very young, but in Stand By Me he looks great and sings much better than he used to. I am sure he and John would have bacome great friends and would have been real close but for the tragedy. And if John hadn`t been bewitched by Yoko it could have happened earlier. John has a very deserving son and he could have been proud of Julian. I am sure he is.
In addition I listened to Oasis singing Stand By Me. I know the song but never thought of it as a cover of the famous one. Sometimes I ask my friends: What`s the matter with you? Sing me something new! - the words from that Oasis` song. I think that Liam looks like Lennon, at least some resemblance, the same could be said about his voice.

We all remain young inside. This is the best thing, some always feel it, some feel it from time to time.

What I appreciate very much is when a person doesn`t change, hopefully much in appearance, at least remains the same size, and in likes and preferences. After the Deep Purple concert I told about it some of the stuff, and those who are around 50 said: Yes, I remember the band, it was great, and the opera Jesus Christ...sung by Jan Gillan. I asked them why they didn`t go and they said something like: Well, the music is too hard, can`t listen to it now, have other things to do and so on. I guess other things mean TV and a comfortable armchair. People do change and that is very sad...One should keep the spirit young!
