I'd like to speak up for Wayne. I do not think there is any malice intended with the way he says things. I know it LOOKS bad sometimes, but I think you have to see behind the words on occasion.
Posted by: Bruno, May 30, 2004, 1:52pm; Reply: 3
I haven't received any of those viruses...yet (thank God)
As for the new rules, I think we all know the person that's going too far.

Hi PC, no I haven't sent any emails to ANY board members - so if anyone else receives one, can you please forward it to me and I'll investigate further.
My address is: the_end_gb@yahoo.com

You could delete the off topic completely and just have a Beatles
forum, but then I think a lot of people would leave.
Also, it is so slow lately as it is, the Off topic is needed.

As long as people are respectful I see nothing wrong with it but then this sure isn't MY forum so whatever the rules are goes.

Is there anyone who shares my view about Wayne? I would hate to see him banned or shunned, when he dosn't deserve it and means well.
Perhaps I feel empathy with Wayne, as he likes long legs ... and that I've got!

It depends.I don't know if you saw what he did. The other day for example he made at least ten topics (yes, ten topics I'm not kidding)in less than five minutes in the 'Different Conversations' forum and the topics were like: "Do you prefer fried chicken or grilled chicken", "Do you prefer cars or bikes"... and other stupids topics that kicked out many good topics to the second page. Thankfully a mod or Dmitry saw what was going on and erased all those topics.
I don't think Wayne should be banned right now;
but, if he keeps flooding the forums like he did the other day, some measures have to be taken.

"Do you prefer cars or bikes?" <<< I never saw that topic! lol. I did see the chicken one though.
I don't see anything wrong with talking about sex, drugs or religion in the Different Conversations. If someone doesn't like it then it would be best not to post on that thread. However, it does get really annoying and tiresome when the same topic keeps appearing over and over and over and over...

Well, I'm glad dmitry has clarified his position. Using the forums to browbeat people with your opinions is wrong. But mentioning these things in a non-offensive way should be allowed. Thanks, dmitry!
As to Wayne, we've -all- been put on notice. I don't think he should be banned unless he continues to post the way he was. He actually started some very good threads that got people talking, many about the Beatles. I think we're -all- valuable components of this place, and we'll all make mistakes occasionally. We need Wayne as much as anyone.
However, I'd -much- rather get back to talking about Maria's long legs!!!! ;-D

In one of the forums I moderate we have a topic called The 9 Hells. This is a topic where ANYTHING can be talked about and nothing at all can be moderated (Except if there is spamming) There is a warning though saying that if you find things offensive then you should not read the threads. If people get upset over the threads in 9 Hells then it is their own fault.
Sounds like Wayne found his woman too.

Sounds like it could get pretty brutal.
I am in unmoderated newsgroups and often it de-evolves into the nastiest sort of crud. And yes, I have been a participant, and no, I'm not proud of it.
I kind of like the lighter touch here...the ability to more or less say what you want but being able to pull back when one starts getting over the top. So far everyone seems to be able to discipline themselves with only one or two exceptions.

Why would they need to do that here? Aren't there ample other places online to do that sort of thing?
We should be free to frankly discuss things that come up of course within our usual conversations, but to specifically (like Wayne's legs fetish) start or post explicit things I would think just wouldn't belong.
Still, it's not a bad idea to maybe have SOME corner where 'anything goes'.

Well obviously theres a mod that thinks they can lock and delete everything...so maybe a 9 hells folder would be a good place to stop that.

It would be nice if someone else piped up in this little back and forth...I feel naked!

YES!
Everything was so great here (so I thought) even tho I'm only a babe here (nice to be just a babe SOMEwhere at my age!) I thought it was a great mix of personalities. I really enjoyed being here.
More defections and I'll probably join them myself...what's the point otherwise? You need a lot of voices to make a community, not just one or two. Damn. I'll really miss this place.
Posted by: Me (Guest), June 2, 2004, 4:22pm; Reply: 25
Well I'll pipe up and say that I don't ever want to be a mod because certain people hate me here, and they always seem to find some snide remark to say.

Wayne: you always disappoint me when you don't respond to my hints. So I'll lay it on the line. I am tall, with the long legs you like ... and I must tell you I like them being admired. I am thin without being lanky. I am small breasted. I have pale skin, and long black hair (which is now becoming grey, but I don't give a hoot about that!) My hands have long thin fingers, and I like wearing rings. I am intelligent, and have a quick and sharp sense of the ridiculous.
But enough of me: Wayne, describe yourself. Maybe we can have a cyber-affair!

Wow, I would have thought that Charlie and Maria would have gotten together, they seem perfect for each other. I guess this puts a whole new twist on things. (wonders if maybe Maria is Waynes cousin)

Weeellllllll.....I guess I have not hidden it very well, but all my bravura with Wayne is just a front, because I want him so bad! You always hurt the one you love!
Unfortunately my legs are stumpy and hairy, and my feet, while not too bad, still don't seem to be his style. sigh I guess he'd be better off with Maria (who sounds mighty nice!), and I will just have to nurse my broken heart somehow else. Maybe a nap. :)

Okay.. talking seriously.. Any theme could offend SOMEONE. If we'd start from this, we shouldn't talk about anything at all.
Why can't we be allowed to talk about anything we'd like to, as long as we don't offend others? Sex drugs and religion are 'sensitive' topics I know, but as long as we can handle it, it should be ok. And if someone goes too far, than simply delete his/her post.

Quoted from Maria
Wayne: you always disappoint me when you don't respond to my hints. So I'll lay it on the line. I am tall, with the long legs you like ... and I must tell you I like them being admired. I am thin without being lanky. I am small breasted. I have pale skin, and long black hair (which is now becoming grey, but I don't give a hoot about that!) My hands have long thin fingers, and I like wearing rings. I am intelligent, and have a quick and sharp sense of the ridiculous.
But enough of me: Wayne, describe yourself. Maybe we can have a cyber-affair!
Found it!!!!! Hee hee!!!! ;D

I think we need to establish some order in Forums.
Please attention everyone!
Do not post off-topic!
If you want to chat do it in the special parts of this forum.
If you post off-topic again and again then Administrators of Moderators will take appropriate measures. Please remember it when you post something like `He-he' (I don't know like what (in English :( )) or something personal in a thematic forum/subject which was created to discuss Beatles or to get an answer about them.
Do not change the subject of the topic! Go to Personal Mailbox ;D

alright. but who is the moderator now? it seems that one has left (for good?) because he said exactly this.

Don't worry. If there is no moderator there are two Administrators :)

i see. but i mean the moderator got slammed because he said exactly what you are saying now. thats a bit strange, isnt it?

I have been guilty of going off-topic, generally because I saw an opportunity for humor. I will be more conscious of sticking to the subject of a thread from now on.
I honestly don't mind if people go briefly off-topic. What has become a problem for me recently is a disrespectful attitude towards other posters. Even some long-term posters who should know better have stooped to personal insults. It has reduced my participation in the forums, because I don't want to come in to a quarrel or name-calling. If I only check in once a day, I hope the argument (whatever it was) will be over and I can just skip past it to see if anyone has said anything fun or relevant about the Beatles lately.
This board has been a wonderful resource for news, good discussion, and friendship. I hope in time this recent upsurge in bickering will pass, and we'll get back on track. It's so rare to find a board where people are knowledgeable and actually want to discuss a matter intelligently. I am very grateful to this forum, and hope it continues a long time. Cheers.

Yeah, some kind of strange. We ask Bobber to come back and punish those who is off-topic :)

that is like a good idea i think because it seemed like what he was asking was fair but all he got was a smart aleck remark and some remarks in broken english....the perpatrator was not me by the way...i would have just told bobber to kiss my a**.....but he would have considered the source and pmed me i am sure because he is rather fair in most aspects of moderation...and he is not given the respect he deserves...al and you get that but none of the rest do...me i don't need it,i have a large ego that i alone feed, but i would like to see bobber get the respect he deserves...come back to the five and dime bobber dean...

bobber is doing what he believes is right......let's face it each of us at this forum is hear for one main reason...to discuss the beatles but underneath the suface we all have different reasons for STAYING here...me like to show what a big a**hole i can be and network with some yanks.....at any forum not everybody is gonna get along with everybody every time.....because speaking your mind is why you came to the forum in the first place....not to babble but discuss...babbling is just bad...i myself detest reading the recent posts after raxo has been on because he may have 50 new posts and only two have content...thats a drag going thru the recent pages to read something new and all thats there is babble...my connection right now is 28.8 so sometimes the babble takes longer to load neveermind if pictures are involved...that takes forever...you picture posting whores need to cool your jets sometimes...i deem that as a selfish act...of course you could care less how long it takes my mess to load...huh?the attitude here has changed and we could all point to reasons...all of them wrong and all of them right....from what i have seen of bobbers request towards raxo, they seem legitimate askances but instead of disussing it raxo takes the adolesent approach and says i am not the only one, others are guilty of this too why single me out...fucking wwwaaahhhh...what are you a baby?....instead of giving bobber a rough way to go you could try and comply and quit being the selfish bastard you are appearing to be....i am rebelious and say what i want....that's because i am a man and can accept what ever is deft from my opinions in my posts....i also noticed that in the last few years there are splinter groups here who stay splintered...this is a community...you must strive to think of yourselves as part of the whole...no confine yourself to speaking to just a few peeps...you have to put the community b4 yourself or else you are being selfish...if you can't concede to help the whole then your a hole pal an a**hole....i also want to say something else i noticed that the heavy handedness of how d is handling this forum is different from the democratic way he would have handled it a few years ago..i think als' heavy handed english ways are reshaping his thinking...or maybe he is asserting himself....because sometimes it seems this is a rowdy classroom instead of a forum to be proud of....and hey if you don't like it then you know what to do....
