SAVE THE PLANET

We're floating on a grain of sand in the vastness of space
If future generations are going to inherit this place
We've got to Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine

The tropical rainforest is disappearing more everyday
We'll never replace it, we'd better not burn it away
Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

If the skies are blue
And the oceans too
Isn't this a better home for me and you?
If the air is clean
And the land is green
Wouldn't you like to be part of this lovely scene?

I'm thinking of the animals that once roamed the African plain
Their numbers have dwindled, pretty soon none will remain
Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine
Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet

LOVE ME JUST A LITTLE

The lights go down
Time to go home
I face the night
All alone

Love Me Just A Little
Hold me in the darkness
The night can be so lonely
Love Me Just A Little

Lying here
Safe in your arms
I feel alright
I'll be strong

Love Me Just A Little
Hold me in the darkness
The night can be so lonely
Love Me Just A Little

The morning sun!
It's another day!
Another day!

Love Me Just A Little
Hold me in the darkness
The night can be so lonely
Love Me Just A Little
The night can be so lonely
Love Me Just A Little

A MAN IS A MAN

When we're out on the town
He's in his tight bluejeans
Women give him the eye
As they pass by
Once in awhile
He might return their looks
But I understand
A Man Is A Man

Sometimes he seems
A million miles away
Talking sports to the guys
On a long Saturday
And he might mention
An old romance
Well, nobody's perfect
A Man Is A Man

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
That's okay if he takes care of you
A man's gotta be what a man's gotta be
But he's better save his last dance for me

He's gotta take care of me
When I need a friend
Stand by me
Until the end
He's gotta be there at night
When the lights go down
Love me like nobody can
A Man Is A Man

I had a listen to these Dutch rockers. I must say after one listen that the songs sound quite alike. The sound reminds me of the late 70's... If that's what you want to sound like (I would not mind), it is a great effort. I'm not too keen on the singer's way of singing, but that's a personal opinion and I guess it's part of the deal.

That's funny, several people already mentioned that we sound like certain 70s bands, but except for the Ramones there really isn't any 70s band that I would call a major influence. Most of our influences are from the mid to late 90s... Bands like Bouncing Souls, H2O, Grey Area, Face To Face...

The songs kinda do sounds alike I guess... I'd say the album is pretty diverse, but we thought it wouldn't be really fair to put songs online that don't sound like anything else on the album. That might give a wrong impression.

Thanks for checking them out.

Oh, ... I've heard them too ... It's not my stuff (too old for that, I'm afraid) ... but I like that kind of sound (sorry for saying that  :B ) ... The ones you posted some months ago were quite good too ... do you remember the ones I'm refering to?

Thanks for the comments so far, it's always good to hear people's opinions, no matter if they're positive, negative or somewhere in between... As long as it's respectful.

We're going back to the studio within a few weeks for the final mixing and mastering, but there's still one thing we're not sure about: should we keep the reggae part at the end of "Radio" or not? What do you guys think?

Howdy folks.

I have been studying music technology for a few years now. One thing I really enjoy doing is recreating some of my favourite songs. Sometimes I like to get as close to the original as I can and sometimes I put my own thing in with it.

The other day I decided to try Imagine by Lennon. Now because it was recorded with modern gear, etc, it doesn't really sound anything like the original, but I wasn't aiming for that anyway. The drums on this version are way too loud and sharp. Unfortunately I deleted the multitrack so I can't do another mixdown! I also added a quite over-the-top choir section.

It is mainly to test myself and my ears. I think it sounds nice. But of course, it doesn't have the warmth the original does. Or vocals as I cannot sing!

Remember that MySpace reduces the sound quality to save on bandwidth or something, so if anyone wants a high-quality copy then just message me. I

'm not tooting my own horn, but I thought I'd find people here who'd appreciate this. I'd like if you could tell me what you think? Any mistakes, etc? It's 3rd from the top.

Cheers guys.

I have been looking for an a-cappella online for a while now but with no luck. D'you think anyone here would be up for it?
Posted by: The End, March 31, 2007, 3:17pm; Reply: 44
The piano arrangement is spot on! An acoustic guitar would sound good in this version too. Shame you can't drop the drums completely I think it detracts from the overall effect. Great effort though - do you have any other examples of famous tracks you have re-recorded?
Posted by: Revolution, March 31, 2007, 11:06pm; Reply: 45
Are the drums  programmed? They sound electronic,to me. Piano is Exact!  :D
Posted by: thefadedline, April 1, 2007, 6:41pm; Reply: 46
Hi, thanks for all the comments!

The End - I really wish I didn't delete the multitrack. It's a bad habit I have developed to save space. But more often than not, I delete a multitrack and then later I find something I don't like in the track and it's too late! I may do another version if I find the time :)

I also have a version of Let it Be I recorded a long time ago... maybe 2 years ago, but I'm very unhappy with it. I did it when I only just learned of recording and mixing, etc, so I feel now I can do a lot better, but I may put it online sometime.

Revolution - Yeah, they are programmed, but they are sampled from a drumkit I use in college. I recorded each drum and I just used a sampler at home for the arrangement.

Oh and does anyone know where I could find some vocals? Would anyone want to record some for me? :P

they are the biggest inspiration of my life as it was like the only music i did listen to between ages 13-19.
but anyway, here's me and my gf's indiepop-duo.
we released our first record in 2005 on the popkonst recordings cd-r-label, and just recently the italian cassette label best kept secret released our first recording and our second ep on cassette.

The Beatles are undoubtedly my greatest influence. I'm trying to recreate their early melodies. Let me know if and to what extent it sucks.

Hi Neels -

Great tune, congratulations!!

I try to do some of this stuff too, so I know how much work it takes to get to that point, fantastic job! I generally like it if someone will make a constructive comment, and you asked, so the only observation like that I would make is that the volume of the vocals could use some levelling off. Sometimes they are much louder/softer than other times, and it can be a bit hard to understand some of the words sometimes.

Have you run your vocals through a compressor ?

Keep up the great work!
Posted by: 1038 (Guest), January 11, 2008, 12:32am; Reply: 75
Thanks for your responses. Yeah, I noticed the vocals needed some leveling too. One thing about the Beatles' harmonies I've noticed is that even though on so many tracks they would have outstanding backup vocal harmonies, they at times would be buried (for lack of a better term) beneath the rest of the music. I think the general consensus is that harmonies should be just that -- complimentary. Otherwise the listener has no way to gauge what the true melody of the track is.
Alexis, do you make music too? I'd love to hear something you've written. Again thanks for your responses. Rock on!

I'm not really sure! I think it's got to do with the vocals, and guitar sound. Dutchmen singing in English always remind me of early 70's Dutch prog, like Kayak, and someone else who's name escapes me. I don't me you sound like them, just that it reminds me.

Hello everyone, my name's Tony and I'm a beatles fan (sounds like an AA meeting). I'm happy that I found this board because the others that I saw were terrible (i.e. who's the hottest beatle? etc.). This section in particular interests me because I'm trying my hand at writing my own songs, something that I was driven to do after reading Bob Spitz Biography of the Beatles. Anyway, if any of you want to check out my stuff my myspace is http://www.myspace.com/tonyhunter27. I look forward to hearing all of your music as well.

It was the best one yet. All You Need Is Love & Hey Jude at the end had the whole place singing....Wonderful. Thats the feeling I play for. :)
Playing as 'The Chancers' tonight with our biggest ever brass section, same stage and then I have the triple whammy as I got a late call to do The Hendrix band on the Kashmere stage.

Playing in 3 different bands at the Isle of Wight Festival! Wooh! Happy Days.

Last night was good too except for our poor keyboard player who had to transpose himself when his keys went a tone out of tune. So much for technology! lol
I also confused a radio interviewer who was convinced I had been playing in a Beatle band the night before.  ;D
Eddie 'Formula one' Jordan played after us, with his band that included Damon Hill on Drums.

Where I only live down the road, I can keep coming back home in the mornings to a real bed for a few hours. I must get back out there in a bit and actually check some bands out. lol

Cheers mate. I lost the previous tracks that evening (Was a little bit spaced) so had to rush the vocal out in the last 10 mins of the session.  Will deffo be redoin a vocal track and get those double track sections sounding sweeter.  I'm sounding tired on the word 'fly' aswell. lol

At least I can be my own worst critic without upsetting anyone. heheheh.
