This keeps coming up on WinMX when I do a general John Lennon search or anything like that... what is it? Am I just a total retard? If so, forgive my ignorance, but what is it?

the only black album i can think of is the on by Jay Z, but i dont know why it would come up if you searched for John Lennon.

the black album is outtakes from the let it be and white albums sessions.its a bootleg that is widely duplicated.
it has snippets of songs and some alternate versions of others.there are a few that were not on offical releases.
it mimics the white album.
a few selection from the album are all along the watch tower, great balls of fire,hi ho silver.
more light will be shed by the time i get home if not i will find the info for you.....get back and you really got a hold on me are on there too.....

Yeah, I think it was a remix of Jay Z's black album mixed with samples from The Beatles' 'White Album'. It was released last year and quickly withdrawn after Apple threatened a lawsuit! It's pretty awful and barely listenable in my opinion, but I imagine an original copy is quite collectable now!

Yeah they are getting rare(But if ya collect a turd years from now it will still be a turd). If anyone is interested there is a copy of the "black album" on ebay now. As far bootlegs are concerned its RARE, but its all the same material released on other Let it be, white album and abbey road outtake bootlegs and all the material is now out on cds Still it is a NICE package though. Capitol/Apple/EMI could have Learned alot from the bootleggers

ya my guitar teacher told me about it, he said paul hated it and ringo thought it was funny......

I heard it only the other night. Interesting concept and ideas seemed very lo-fi and home-made. I think I'd go with Ringo's stance. I bet the guy was probably trying to pay respect in his'own' way. I mean mixing The Beatles with Jay - Z is a tall order. At least he had a pop and now has probably made a name for himself even though I can't remember it. lol

im guessing one reasong why ringo thought it was funny was because he wasnt present during part of the white album, i think it wa sonly a month though..

That's very true, just a nickname. Your first name isn't 'Slick' either, I guess.

A friend of mine has an original Beatles Black Album with all three discs and the original poster. I don't know much about this album. Supposedly only 50 were ever made in 1969 and none were ever sold. He told me that his great aunt knows some of the people involved in the theft and she was given it as a gift. I don't care if that story is true, the point is he has the original album and it is sitting right next to me as I type this. What I'd like to know is how much is this album worth? I've attached some pictures and if anyone could fill me in with some more info on this album I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time and thanks in advance for any input.

No idea what it might be worth, though.

My answer, as always: take it to a specialist auction house, or send the best detailed photo's (of everything) to them.

Oh my god.
That Black Album seems pretty awesome.
But I don't like the idea of takes and rehearsals. Is there any chance that they recorded 30 original compositions never issued on disc? :)
