Thought I'd post up all the links I'd seen around here and elsewhere regarding Beatles. Thought it might make a nice drop-in centre to have all the links in one place. Could become a handy little resource tool for everyone eventually. Please add anything interesting you may find. Give reviews..tidy it up a bit etc, etc. ;)

This is BRILLIANT! I would never in a hundred years have come up with some of these phrases. And neither would you- if you listen to the thing without the words "deciphered" for you. (As I did for part of this as I wrote this reply). I especially like the hard cuts in the middle of a phrase. So very natural... ;)

I like that the YouTube code shows the window. Many people post links to YouTube with no more explanation than, "This is neat!" and some URL. I don't usually click on a blind URL because I have no idea if I'm even interested in what someone else thought was neat (or I might have already seen it). The YouTube code gives me a glimpse of the clip so I can more easily tell what's in there, if the poster neglected to tell me. So, thanks again!

I knew it ... but it's great to see these few seconds a-gain :) ... the funniest moment are the last 3 seconds ... John was a good clown ;D ... I know that he didn't like the word (he used it on I'm A Loser and he said it so):
"' I'm A Loser '. Is me in my Dylan period, because the word 'clown' is in it. I objected to the word clown, because that was artsy-fartsy, but Dylan had used it, so I thought it was all right, and it rhymed with whatever I was doing."
... but in one of his interviews (by Bed-in time ... 1969 surely) he said that he prefered to be considered a clown more than a "serious" pacifist because of the leg-end of the guns (Martin Luther King was murdered recently, y'know) :-/ ...

I've got a VCR of one of their Ready Steady Go performances, and it looked to me like it was mimed ... John even made an embarrassed face once when his vocal timing was particularly off.
Does anyone know if these were mimed, or maybe there were a few RSG sessions with some live and some not? Can't remember if Shout was on my VCR ...

Yes, they always mimed to there records on Ready Steady Go. I think artist actually played live as the show progressed on.

Shout wasn't performed on RSG, it was for a show called Around The Beatles. They mimed all their performances in Around The Beatles having pre-taped them 9 days prior.

And here's "Shout" (this should actually be called "Shout pt.2" as they are performing the version that appeared on the B-side of The Isley Brother's "Shout pt.1").
This is longer than the version that appeared on Anthology - George's part is a couple of bars longer.

I love when Paul's mic falls apart and he's trying to fix if for like a minute and then he looks at George who fixes it in three seconds. Ha. I think this is my favorite press conference because they're all so honest and not at all cuddly. They really do get asked some STUPID questions! To Paul: "What time of day do you prefer to write your tunes?" Paul: "What time of day? Certainly daytime anyway....oh and night time! Certainly something like that. Just anytime really. ANYtime!" and other sites e.g. Zippy Videos, Google Video and stuff like that. I found it quite handy to know and already downloaded a few vids. It works quite good. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a guide to download, play and convert videos from YouTube.
Locate the video at YouTube by searching. Copy the link of the file. Go to http://www.keepvid.com and paste the link on the box provided. Click the download button. You get the download link. Right click and do 'save target as' for Internet Explorer or 'save link as' for Firefox. You can also paste the download link on to your download manager.
Once the file is downloaded, you'll see the extension is .flv (Flash video file). These files can be played on several players. I recommed the free FLV player http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog...-player-updated
The files can also be converted to your favourite video format. Download the free (actually shareware but as good as free) CinemaForge from here http://www.mediaforge.com/wrapfactory-video.aspx
Converting is quite easy. Select the file, the output format and specify the parameters (frame rate, audio quality etc) and your work is done.

I loved Johnny Carson BIG TIME...but yeah, J&P didnt fit right on that show..it was too "square" for them. They were pushing the budding Apple Corps at the time, but I really dont think TTS was the correct venue. Cavett was more their speed...Harrison was on there a lot.

Could someone give me the background of all these videos? Were they all recorded on May 19 and 20? Looking at the history section, it seems that they appeared live at many of these shows and mimed the songs while at others they just send in the performance. Could someone tell me which video corresponds to what show and when it was recorded. I'm confused if some were performed or simply recorded days beforehand.

Is the Peter Sellers one where they start off talking about Acapulco Gold or something? I never knew this existed! My God I can only imagine what else is out there that I haven't seen. I was all excited because I thought I was going to get to finally hear Peter's actual voice, but he's doing an American accent! What's that about?? What's even going on in the first place? That guy's a mystery.

Is George addled in this one? He sounds fairly incoherent, apparently not able to put any words together in a meaningful fashion. Poor George Martin, having to respond in some civil way without sounding patronizing. Or can anyone else actually make a complete sentence out of what George is saying?

Paul singing "Yesterday" during the mid-Sixties--I just love it seeing him perform this song live.
In this clip he seems to have streaks of moisture running down his cheeks. I can't really decide if it's because he's sweating or crying...but I think he's crying. It's such a sad song and he was probably having problems with Jane Asher at that time. Does anyone else have an opinion?

Has anyone seen the documentary this is from? I just got it at Amazon. Hope it's good. It looks so sixties. Which is always interesting.
And can anyone break down where each bit of footage in this one is from?? Especially where John's wearing the cowboy hat and the press conference and when they're tuning up their instruments. There's a lot I haven't seen and would like to find full versions if possible, but I don't know where a lot of it's from! Except the last bit of course. Always loved that bit.

it comes from too many different places....the pool in miami was footage from a hotel employee...the studio footage is from lady madonna and hey bulldog session...i think george martin may own that....i've no idea where the derek taylor footage is from.....ringo is from the help era...
