I would like to take this moment to express my obsession with Marilyn Monroe's version of the song "A Fine Romance." I know everyone is going to say "shut up about Marilyn Monroe, Mairi" but it is a truly awesome song. The trumpets are excellent, and her voice is spot on, but the best part of it is the lyrics- because they're actually ponting out all the things wrong with the relationship! the term "A Fine Romance" is being used sarcastically.
Seriously, go download it!

I am so very grateful to be recieving this Academy Award for Best Actress. First of all, I would like to thank God for giving me this wonderful gift and allowing me to share it with the world. I would also like to thank my mom and dad, who always believed in me, and my best friend Erin, who never belived in me but I still like her anyways. Of course, I also want to thank my fans for supporting me and coming to my movies!
And last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my husband Paul McCartney for always being right there by my side during the hectic filming. I love you Paul!

(Just practicing.)

Since I live in an island of the Portuguese archipelago Azores, though, there is no McDonald's here. Just Pizza Hut and Burger King. They do have McDonald's on the mainland, though.

Once borrowed a few jazz cds and didn't bother to return them for awhile. It really adds up- $42 dollars US!!!!

I still owe the library 15 dollars and they won't let me borrow books until I only have 10 dollars left in fines.

It would have been cheaper jsut to buy the damn cds.

Wellll..... okay. This may seem petty to other people, but it is not to me.

Okay, I am not a vain person. I mean, I don't have anything to be vain about, so why should I be vain, right? But there is one thing I liked about myself... my long, thick, luxurious hair. Of course this just drives my mother crazy because she doesn't like long hair (part of this may be due to the fact that she has short, brittle hair, and she is jealous of me) she has been nagging me to cut my hair for ages but I never do because that is the only thing I ever fucking liked about myself. I used to get compliments on it all the time!!!! But she dragged me into the stupid hair salon and made me get it cut and now it's way too fucking SHORT!!! It used to be down to my waist and now it's like... a little below my collarbones. I spent four years of my life growing that hair and it was just fucking ripped away from me in 10 minutes.

Reminds me of my grandparents. They're not into me growing my hair so they constantly nag me about it. It's not even that LONG!!!! Early Paul moptop at most.

For some reason this reminded me of Edward Nortons 5 minute monologue about things he hates in 25th Hour

f*** me? f*** you! f*** you and this whole city and everyone in it. f*** the panhandlers, grubbing for money, and smiling at me behind my back. f*** the squeegee men dirtying up the clean windshield of my car. Get a fucking job! f*** the Sikhs and the Pakistanis bombing down the avenues in decrepit cabs, curry steaming out their pores, stinking up my day. Terrorists in fucking training. SLOW THE f*** DOWN! f*** the Chelsea boys with their waxed chests and pumped up biceps. Going down on each other in my parks and on my piers, jingling their dicks on my Channel 35. f*** the Korean grocers with their pyramids of overpriced fruit and their tulips and roses wrapped in plastic. Ten years in the country, still no speaky English? f*** the Russians in Brighton Beach. Mobster thugs sitting in cafés, sipping tea in little glasses, sugar cubes between their teeth. Wheelin' and dealin' and schemin'. Go back where you fucking came from! f*** the black-hatted Hasidim, strolling up and down 47th street in their dirty gabardine with their dandruff. Selling South African apartheid diamonds! f*** the Wall Street brokers. Self-styled masters of the universe. Michael Douglas, Gordon Gecko wannabe mother fuckers, figuring out new ways to rob hard working people blind. Send those Enron assholes to jail for FUCKING LIFE! You think Bush and Cheney didn't know about that mess? Give me a fucking break! Tyco! Worldcom! f*** the Puerto Ricans. 20 to a car, swelling up the welfare rolls, worst fuckin' parade in the city. And don't even get me started on the Dom-in-i-cans, 'cause they make the Puerto Ricans look good. f*** the Bensonhurst Italians with their pomaded hair, their nylon warm-up suits, their St. Anthony medallions, swinging their, Jason Giambi, Louisville slugger, baseball bats, trying to audition for the Sopranos. f*** the Upper East Side wives with their Hermes scarves and their fifty-dollar Balducci artichokes. Overfed faces getting pulled and lifted and stretched, all taut and shiny. You're not fooling anybody, sweetheart! f*** the uptown brothers. They never pass the ball, they don't want to play defense, they take fives steps on every lay-up to the hoop. And then they want to turn around and blame everything on the white man. Slavery ended one hundred and thirty seven years ago. Move the f*** on! f*** the corrupt cops with their anus violating plungers and their 41 shots, standing behind a blue wall of silence. You betray our trust! f*** the priests who put their hands down some innocent child's pants. f*** the church that protects them, delivering us into evil. And while you're at it, f*** JC! He got off easy! A day on the cross, a weekend in hell, and all the hallelujahs of the legioned angels for eternity! Try seven years in fuckin' Otisville, J! f*** Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, and backward-a**, cave-dwelling, fundamentalist assholes everywhere. On the names of innocent thousands murdered, I pray you spend the rest of eternity with your seventy-two whores roasting in a jet-fueled fire in hell. You towel headed camel jockeys can kiss my royal Irish a**!

"I would do anything for love...."

Woo, random lyric!

Meatloaf is cool, ya know he was in Rocky? For the life of me I'll never understand why Eddie got murdered. I think Frank was jealous that he couldn't ride a motorbike (because of those heels..) and maybe because of this inane jealousy he figured the best solution was murder. I haven't really got an idea. But I'm willing to bet it was because of his incapability to ride a motorbike...

Ohh good point.

And it was out of spite...too, maybe possiblely...

I could write a whole paper on that scene, if given the chance.

Then Frank's like 'oh don't be sad, it was a mercy killing...' something like that.

Anyhoo he's still my favorite character... even though he murders people and swims around in a pool in lady's lingiere... :D

I over analyze that movie way way too much. lol :D

I don't even remember mint chocolate chip back then....in the olden days. The days before cell phones and desk top computers. We had it so hard you know. Having to entertain ourselves with Pong and Pac Man. Walking in the snow with our capezios and leg warmers with nothing but our bright Swatches on our wrists to keep us happy. So sad.

There, a bunch a random thoughts all strung together.

There were sell-out hippie yuppies and there were young yuppies too. But I wasn't saying that YOU were one! (grin) Ever hear that joke...

A yuppie is driving down the road, yapping on his new cell phone when he crashes into a street lamp. "My BMW!" he cries. " My beautiful BMW!"
A police officer walks by and says, "You've more to worry about than your car. Your arm was just torn off!"
"My Rolex watch!" cries the yuppie. "My beautiful Rolex!"

Polly Pocket?? Never heard of her. But I'm sure you've never heard of Tiffany Tuesday. The doll with the reversable hair! Oh, and Cher dolls. So great. I once hung it up in the refridgerator so that when someone opened the door it would fly out at them. That's how scary THAT doll was! BTW, I feel so sad for you having to go through all the trouble of burning those cd's. We only had to sit by the radio for hours and hours waiting for a song you liked to come on so you could TAPE it on a crappy little cassete tape!! Boy, did I appreciate that mix when it was done. Heh, also, if this doesn't make ou sad, I don't know what will, I actually had to tape the Yellow Submarine on one of those cassette tapes because we didn't even have VCR's yet!!!! Ah!! ;D

I remember holding a tape recorder up to the TV speakers during the Little Mermaid, so I could have it on tape and listen to it in the car like a freakin' radio play. I thought I was the only kid who ever did that.

OMG. I did that all the time. My little blue tape recorder was like the greatest gift I ever got. I taped everything!! I actually found one of my old tapes, and I was going on to one of my friends about music class and some annoying kids screaming to the teacher, "Put Ozzy on! Put Ozzy on!."  That poor teacher. I can't believe how fast I used to talk. What was that about?
Posted by: Mairi, September 17, 2005, 3:05am; Reply: 367
Hahaha. You should hear me talking. No one can understand me half the time. They think I'm french or something.

I taped things alllll the time, like ALF reruns and once me and my sister made up a Salmon Preservation Society and acted like important adults. My mom wasn't very happy when Isobel taped over her John Allan Cameron tape with Sailor Moon, though.

I think we might still have some of those tapes, I must dig them up. I'd be nice to hear her voice.

I SO wish I still had my tape of me and my friends acting like the Beatles. I remember interviewing my best friend when she was Ringo. I wonder if we even used English accents. Probably not.
Posted by: Mairi, September 17, 2005, 3:15am; Reply: 369
LOL, once me and my friend made a really stupid tape which was just basically us talking in incredibly fake Irish accents and making crunching sounds with cookies. I must have been about 7 or 8, because we were listening to B*witched at the time. Ah, B*witched...

Well, we weren't THAT bad! (grin)

there was also a lot of giggling, I recall. I was very peeved when my mom didn't want to listen to it.
