DM's Beatles forums / Comments, Suggestions and Questions / "Stupid" threads
Posted by: Dmitry, July 2, 2005, 5:44am
I often get messages from differ members about as they say stupid threads. I look at such threads and in most cases see nothing but personal dislike. The member just don't like author of a thread or mentioned in the thread theme. If so then why just don't answer the thread if you don't like it. Just don't keep corresponding with member you don't like. I think it not so hard to do. What do you think?

It seems only a few people feel the need to trash threads they don't like (for whatever reason)- the majority of us seem to be able to ignore the ones that don't interest us and can engage in lively debate in a civilised manner about the ones that do. I would have thought that's what being on a Forum was all about.
I don't know about others, but I come here because its fun.

Sure, that's easy. Although wayne L. has posted countless stupid threads as you mention. Not just this site either. I COULD have posted many links confirming this. Instead, I only posted two. I can understand your deleting duplicate threads by him, but yet you will let his long legs & sexy feet thread to continue. Did away with my poll? That's alright too. PC31 couldn't get him to respond in an intelligent manner either, no one can because he's childlike. You have to resort to his level to make him understand. I hardly find wayne comical as the rest of you. He is annoying, and I honestly cannot say I have heard of one single person on the net that has said something good about him. Perhaps you wish to give him sanctuary here, fair enough. If he would only stay here now, you people can have him. I bid you adieu!

I found the PC31-Wayne interchange to be fascinating. Sorta like a Mamet play. These two guys going at it--not really communicating but each using language. It' funny how language can be as much a defense mechanism as a means of communication. I guess that's why monkees chatter at each other.

The reason I love this forum so much is because there AREN'T a bunch of power hungry mods and admins that edit and delete posts on a whim. Most of us are mature enough to ignore posts that may offend us or are just plain stupid. I rarely click on a thread that's so obviously going to contain a bunch of random or extreme personal opinions that have nothing to do with fact or even reality for that matter. I do think it's good for a laugh every now and then and that's when I choose to read them. I'm glad those threads aren't deleted. They always die a natural death anyway when people get tired of them. If you're overly sensitive, then either put those people who offend you on ignore or leave the forum because I think most of us like it the way it is.

If you're overly sensitive,
Overly sensitive? That's a laugh. Believe me when I say that I hang at different boards than you do. This place is downright tame! I suppose everybody around here is a pacifist, fine, if that's your thing. When you say wayne L. is comical, you can't tell me your laughing with him, your laughing at him, just like the rest of the net. There is a difference. Furthermore, I didn't provide the link where wayne openly admitted that he lives at home with his parents in a basement, where he watches TV all day, with a pc right next to him. Why do you think he constantly brings up his fascination with female reporters and the like? Hmm? He does not work and he is NOT a lyricist. He has been called on that many times over, never providing any small shred of proof of it. I'm merely pointing out what you now have on your hands. Good luck with him, you'll need it.
Adios

Wayne has been here for many years now but thank you for letting us have him! Get a grip mate - what's YOUR agenda here?

That's right. Let's have him (for awhile ;) )
No te despidas tan pronto, twistandshout. (Don't say bye-bye so quickly, twistandshout)
Hay sitio para todos en el foro. (There's a place for everyone in the forum).
Incluso para Wayne, porque no?. (Even for Wayne, why not?).

I think that if a person wants to raise some problem of interest to him/her then why not let them do it? Even if it is a stupid thread. If you want to react you are welcome, if not, rafrain from doing it, leave it alone. There are many very young users here, they may not post extremely sophisticated threads, and they needn`t. Why not encourage them to talk the way they like? More threads, more fun! People should feel relaxed. Besides it`s interesting to learn what other people think , the more so as we all come from different countries and have different backgrounds. I like the forum very much and the atmosphere here is great!

^^^^^^^^^Sandra..........that is very well put. I know what you mean about "power hungry" admins and mods. Also..........this forum is not "click-ish"...........you know.......you have your little group of "cronnies" that chit-chat and would not let anyone new join in or if someone new joins in, they "bash" them about something. Very good people on this board!!!! I love all of you..........

I posted that before I was a mod. Before I went mad with power.

I made the mistake of not seeing if there was another thread for a subject I started, but noone was mean about it
my thread was just added to a pre existing one, and it's cool.
But the next day I did receive a package in the mail that made a ticking sound, but i threw it away, most
likely it has nothing to do with the post I made.
