Dear Marshall,
I have been on to the webmaster about the chat room on the Mersey Beat site and asked whether it should be replaced by a message board, but he fells it will eventually work. Perhaps I should arrange to be on it for a chat at a certain time each week.
I'll just have a look at the message board info you sent.

Tony Sheridan DVD

Dear Cor,

Thank you very much for your letter.
What a surprise to receive the dvd of some of Tony's early performances.
Lots of people promise this and that but often enough it remains just words.

Enclosed please find two autographes of Tony.

Best wishes,

Anna O'Sheridan-MacGinnity

--------

The envelop contained two autographed pictures. I'll try to scan them and post them later.

great shots.....one of a kind no doubt........it is no surprise that he took time.....tony is truly a man with a "lucky face"!!!
i still say he was sadly over looked...he was a true rebel.i wish he would write a book about himself and dish out all the dirt.......from his time in the jets to his obtaining of peter eckhorn as a manager....looks like the germans got robbed again...if you catch my drift.....i suppose the equipment was better than other nations back then because vox amplifiers were hot at the time.....rock was thriving in germany so why does tennessee want credit for rock and roll....aaahhhh can you imagine the debauchery we could have participated in back then???its like the poni tails song sang "oh why was i born too late?"..roaming the streets swilling beir back, pimpin' the ho's...everybody was playing in germany back in the day....why?were the acoustics better over there??
i wanna read all about it.....

The thing with those Decca Tapes is they lack the energy that was so characteristic for the Beatles in those days. They almost sound like Bobby Vee.

Thats exactly right. They just sound like they were going through the motions.

(The Coasters 'Three Cool Cats' is so much better than the Beatles attempt.)

Posted by: Bobber, April 24, 2008, 7:05am; Reply: 73
Very flat. Might be the recording, but judging from we can hear today, Decca can't be blamed for letting the Beatles down.
Posted by: BlueMeanie, April 24, 2008, 8:27am; Reply: 74
They don't sound very inspiring, that's for sure. Well, having travelled from Liverpool to London in a cramped mini-bus, and in a snow storm, been kept waiting at Decca, using unfamiliar equipment, John having a cold - hence George's not very strong voice doing half the singing, I'm not surprised. Add a dose of good old fashioned nerves and you've got a recipe for disaster.

I don't think the song selection helped either. Did Brian want them to be a cabaret act?
Posted by: pc31, April 24, 2008, 10:07am; Reply: 75
do he only wanted them to dress up like cabaret girls....
