I was wondering if there could be a forum for any Beatle convention (on the planet)
and have people rate them, etc. ??? (i.e. Fest for Beatlefans, Beatles on the River front, etc.)

I was just wondering what conventions anyone has been to and what they liked, disliked, quests at the convention, etc. I've been to the "Fest for Beatlefans" (old "Beatlefest") in
Chicago several times (I went to NYC "fest" once). For the "Hard-core" Beatle fan - looking
for Bootlegs, etc - unless you know the "room", this might not be for you, but for the general
Beatle fan, it's a nice 'Get away for the weekend'. In Detroit, back in the early 1990"s, there
was a Beatle convetion that had Mike McCartney / Mcgear, Pete Best, Russ Gibb, and John
Sinclair (not all at one convention, but over a 2-3 year period, if my memory is correct.)
These were pretty interresting. I would like to get to a convention in London or Liverpool
some day. I also think I've seen something about a convention in Sweden? Norway?, Somewhere in that area? Only if I had the money, but the way the U.S. dollars is going
(plus petrol/fuel/gas over here, but I guess we're "catching up" to the rest of the world!!)
Lets just say, "funds are tight". (I'm off the subject - sorry!)

I have not made a beatle a convention as such. Not many close to where I live and travelling to the mainland adds expense straight away! I visit Liverpool on occasion and been inside and crossed Abbey Road.

I think you'll find members like 'The End'  more knowledgeable in this area. Infact, have a hunt around some threads to see what American members know as I am sure there are plenty conventions over U.S. side.

At the isle of Wight festival they have a 'strawberry fields' section although, thats about the only connection.

Anyone else care to enlighten?

I have never been to a convention either, so you're way more knowledgeable than me!

Liverpool is having a big one this August. I saw a link for it in Daytrippin' magazine. I'm sure you can google it or the magazine to find out more. It looks like it will be big, but as to how good, I expect that will depend on whether you like the guest speakers and program tracks. Good luck!

Being an second generation American from Scotland - once I get to the U.K., I'll try not to
be "that crazy fool American", trying to see Beatles stuff, seeing "family" stuff, but I'm afraid
I AM going to be just that!!! An old co-worker of mine from England (exactly, I forget), but his
family found it amazing that it took this co-worker 3-days (by car) to travel from Michigan to
Florida, where (looking at a map) the U.K. is about the size of one of the States. I know I'll
get to England and say - "hey, Ireland is just over there, Scotland is right there, France is just
over the channel....." pretty soon, I'll be in Iran, going, "how the H*ll did I get here?!?!?!?!"
Maybe once I get some money to travel (or do what John & Paul did in France in their younger
days and hitch-hike.), I'll get to Europe. (Since I'm second generation - maybe I should find
my "cousins"!! I can hear them now, "NO!!")

Crazy fool Americans have more fun. :)

I did the tourist thing the first time I hit London. I climbed St. Paul's, saw Abbey Road, and visited Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes museum. The Tower had to wait for visit #2.

I wish we would have some. I think there is one every summer, but I am always working pretty much full time during the summer to save money.

'My Sweet Lord!" Heatherboo! The Fest for Beatlefans in Vegas is right there!! It's in the Mirage where "LOVE" is
playing. I haven't been there is see "LOVE" yet, but apparently the people perform in the show  also
show up to the fest. Whether or not you like "LOVE", at least there will be a hotel full of "BEATLE PEOPLE".
(example - go to "YouTube" and type in "BeatleFest", there are several "videos". I've not seen a video yet of
the room where you can buy stuff - it's generally large!! Lately, (in Chicago) there has even been a guy whom
sells Sitars!!!

I was just in Vegas too!! I went to the show and the bar and stuff.  I didn't know they had a fest too!  Vegas is about an 8 hour drive from where I am.  So I only get down once a year.

The "fest" is only around July 4 weekend in Vegas - if you make it this year. It seems to be
pretty much, NYC in March, Vegas around July 4, and Chicago in August every year.
Also see website "Fest for BeatleFans" (I outta get with Mark, I'm not a "salesman", but feel
like it.) I remember the first time I went and wondered why I had not heard of it before!!

Going to Vegas around any holiday weekend, especially 4th of July...And this 4th of July is on a Friday too...That makes it 10X worse. :o

Maybe I will one year though.  I just dread the masses of people and the hiked up prices.
