Dhani Harrison is apparently set to follow in his father George Harrison's footsteps with his band thenewo2.

The only son of the late Beatles guitarist formed the band with drummer Oliver Hecks and is hoping to wow industry bosses when he tours the States this year, reports the Daily Express.

The 29-year has already released new tracks on the internet and apparently wants to perform a series of live shows in the US.

A source told the paper: "Dhani isn't a big attention seeker but it's understood he hopes to go on the road in the autumn.

"Dhani will be keen to keep things low key and they'll be playing small venues, but there's bound to be a lot of interest."

Fans will have high expectations of the singer, who co-produced and performed on his father's album Brainwashed, which was released after his death in 2002.

He also performed alongside Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton at a tribute concert to his father at the Royal Albert Hall.

Good news. I really enjoyed their EP and I'd like to see what a live show would be like.

Dhani has grown on me. I was totally like pissed off when he let that band do a cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and I'm like I'm done with him. But I can't resist! He's too good! I hope they come some place close enough for me to go see them.

I never heard this cover, DSL. Was it... bad?

I do like all the new songs I've heard from him, not many, but when they come up I'll give them a listen. That moody one "Another John Doe" I think is just super.

I think "Another John Doe" is my favorite, but I quite like "Choose What You're Watching".

Ya, Another John Doe is good. It sounds so different from their other kind of techy songs.

I hope I get to see them, I really like their music. I must admit I didn't think I would at first, because I might compare him with George and all that. But then I heard Choose What Your Watching way back in, I think 2006,  and was very impressed.
