DM's Beatles forums / Songs / Story Songs

The Beatles had many songs that had a story in them. For instance Rocky Raccoon, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, and Maxwell's Silver Hammer are some.
What are your favorites or ones you thought were just weird?

Would Paperback Writer and A Day In The Life be considered story songs? If so, I like them!

ok maybe EVERY song is a story song.
I meant a song that doesn't describe someone but has a story...you know?
Eleanor Rigby I wouldn't think so much of one, Nowhere Man either.

The reason why I thought of Eleanor Rigby is because for me that song is very vivid in telling the story of her and also of Father McKenzie. Now that I think of it Eleanor Rigby and Nowhere Man kind of have the same message!

what is the message?
being alone?
Posted by: HeatherBoo, July 20, 2008, 11:33pm; Reply: 10
Yup, being alone and having the whole world not even know your alive yet your right there in front of everyone...everyone ignores them.

I sometimes wonder if homeless people feel that way. I often see people walk by them and completely ignore them as if they were not there.

well think about how when you go out to like a mall and you see people. you never knew that they existed until you saw them. You don't know that half the world exists but you know there are billions of people who live on in this world.

Lady Madonna, Bungalow Bill

Yeah, Bungalow Bill sounds like a children's book from the 1930s. Don't ask me why, but whenever I hear it, I conjure up old-timey illustrations of scenes from the song being read by a grandfatherly type.

I think it's just boring and I don't' like the vocals or the chorus. however it IS on my Ipod because maybe ONE day I'll have the feeling to listen to it...I doubt it.

"A Day in the Life" no doubt.
Because in a way, its John's story is it not?
I thought somebody said it had something to do with his early childhood?
Or maybe that was just the theme Cirque used for "A Day in the Life".

possibly. I just thought it was more like mini stories.
