I feel it in my bones......yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahThis is one great song, it really is! Catchy tune, that. I can't seem to get it out of my head.
Well why don't you shake it! |

I love Coming Up. The album version. I haven NO idea why the live version was so much more popular. All of the quirkiness was taken out of it! The album version is fresh and original. And probably a little ahead of its time.
And the video is great. I showed it to my students and they kept freaking out because there were so many Pauls! It's funny how his Beatle Paul looked exactly the same as actual Beatle Paul. He looked about 21 again! What was he, late thirties at this point? |

Anybody have any comments on The Kids are Alright (the documentary movie, not the song)? This movie made me a Who fan instantly.
Where do you all rank Townshend among guitarists? Top 10, top 50, overrated?
TKAA is the definitive rock bio. Made for fans by a mega fan. It's so raw and honest. Don't see so much of that anymore. I can't even count how many times I've watched it. Mainly for the Moon performances. The guy was beyond fascinating and insanely talented and original. But I also love witnessing the sense of humor they all seem to have throughout. Interesting dynamic between the four of them.
I also think the time it was done was the perfect time. They were all there to comment and have input. The Who basically died with Keith Moon, so anything after the fact doesn't really add to what made them so iconic. But really, the musical performances drove the film. Watching them evolve, watching the milestones. Perfect. I loved the Russell Harty interview they cut throughout the film too. It provided a sort of continuity. Loved how nervous Harty got when he thought Moon was about to out him!
I'd like to see the new bio Amazing Journey. I don't know if it'll add much of anything new, but I definitely want to see it! Anyone see that one yet?
As for Pete's guitar playing. I really don't know where to rank him, but I do think he's somewhat underrated. I mean, those power chords alone...there was some amazing musicianship going on in that band! Maybe Pete got overshadowed a bit.

I think Roll Over Beethoven means "He will be rolling in his grave " , Rock 'n' Roll would be a shock too Beethoven so he would be rolling in his grave with the wild sound It's quite a funny image , mind you so is Beethoven rolling around on the floor |

NOT HERE apparently. Let's be fair. I haven't been here long enough to know you got a mailbox some time ago. It makes sense. |

I've always interpreted as meaning he'll always be faithful to her. He's reassuring her that she's the one. He found "someone to love." Cuz really, he's begging her to give him a chance. Just my take on it.
Love, love me do. You know I love you, I'll always be true, So please, love me do. Whoa, love me do.

Uncle Albert /Admiral Halsey gets my vote , i always felt a little robbed it was never released as a single in the UK , i think it's one of Paul's best singles . I like the Back Seat Of My Car and it should have gone higher than it's # 39 chart place in the UK , it's got one of paul's great vocals |

home work? believe me, i use dictionary everyday to understand things all over the net. well not everyday now, but i used to do it two years ago. i'm really much better now. and i know almost all of the words they use in their songs [especially their early songs, haha] but sometimes they use phrases i've never heard before, what am i supposed to do then? another example.i have no idea what roll over beethoven means. i just imagine poor beethoven rolling on the floor. but it probably means something else. i'm half turkish and half persian. |

I think as English speaker's we take for granted that these songs will be understood by everyone . I've never even thought that people would have to use an English dictionary to understand the lyrics , that sounds like home work . But now we have this thread you can ask and one of us should be able to help you blackmath. Were are you from ? i'm from England |

thank you so much dave. i know how hard it can be. i try to use dictionaries anytime i can but sometimes there are some stuff that i can't understand because i don't speak english in my daily life. [i'll be asking more questions in the future, i have a lot of them.] |
|
|
This is a good question blackmath . English is a funny old language , with one word often having several meanings . I'm an English speaker and i sometimes find it difficulte , i think the use of true in this case is like true love , and not true in the sense of honest . |

| I also voted for The End. First the drum solo preparing the way for the other three Beatles to show off their very distinctive guitar styles. Absolutely fantastic! |

"dummies" would be me. seriously. i've been listening to them for a while but i still don't understand some parts of their songs. no i'm not stupid. it's just not my mother tongue and i still can speak english better than most people i know. anyway.
i have a lot of questions, i hope someone answers. please? first question. in love me do, when he says i'll always be true. does it mean that he'll always be honest or that he'll always be there for her? [or something else, maybe?] OK, you can laugh if you find this funny but i seriously want to know. i'd appreciate any help. |
