Apr 23 Saturday	John and Paul perform as a duet at the Fox and Hounds, Caversham, Berkshire, calling themselves the Nerk Twins. Paul's cousin and her husband, who `let' the boys perform in exchange for working during the week, ran the pub.

May 03 Tuesday	Rory Storm and the Hurricanes with a drummer Richard Starkey performs in Liverpool Stadium. It was a few months later that Ritchie became Ringo Starr.
May 05 Thursday	The band's name is changed to `The Silver Beetles'. Tommy Moore becomes the drummer for one month. (Norman Chapman was the drummer prior to leaving for military service.) Allan Williams becomes the manager. (Date is approximate.)
May 10 Tuesday	Audition for Larry Parnes at the Wyvern Social Club (The Blue Candle), 108 Seel Street, Liverpool. Other acts are Derry and the Seniors, Bob Evans and his Five Shillings, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Cass and the Casanovas. This was an audition in search of a backing band for an upcoming Billy Fury tour. The Silver Beatles didn't win the audition. However, Larry Parnes liked what he heard and hired the band to back Johnny Gentle on a tour of Scotland at the end of May. Tommy Moore, The Silver Beatles' drummer at this time, arrived late after a couple of songs. Johnny Hutchinson from Cass and the Cassanovas gratiously filled in on drums with a routine drum beat.
May 14 Saturday	The Silver Beats perform at Lathom Hall in Liverpool. This is the first time the group used that name.
May 20 Friday	Contract with Paramount Enterprises, to play the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey.
May 20 Friday	Start of a 7 day tour of Scotland as backup band for Johnny Gentle, also of Liverpool. They perform at Town Hall in Town Hall in Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Other acts are Tommy Steele, Alex Harvey and his Beat Band and Bobby Rankine.
May 21 Saturday	Performance in the Johnny Gentle Scotland Tour at the Northern Meeting Ballroom in Inverness. Also performing are Ronnie Watt and the Chekkers Rock Dance Band.
May 23 Monday	Performance in the Johnny Gentle Scotland Tour at Dalrymple Hall, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen. Johnny Gentle crashes the van carrying himself and the Beatles. Tommy Moore is hit in the mouth by a guitar.
May 25 Wednesday	The Cavern changes style and opens its doors to rock'n'roll groups.

Aug 12 Friday	Pete Best leaves the Blackjacks and becomes The Silver Beetles' drummer. The band's current line-up would now included John, Paul, George, Pete and Stuart Stutcliffe.
Aug 16 Tuesday	Leaving from Liverpool to Hamburg.
Aug 17 Wednesday	Arrival in Hamburg. Evening: First performance at the Indra Club, 64 Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg, Germany.
Aug 19 Friday	The Beatles are hired to perform 2 additional months at the Indra Club.
Oct 03 Monday	Last performance at the Indra Club, 64 Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg, Germany.
Oct 04 Tuesday	The Beatles began to perform nightly at the Kaiserkeller, 36 Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg, Germany. Also performing are Rory Storm and the Hurricanes with drummer Ringo Starr. After Mon. November 21st, they perform without George. Sometime in November they also jam with Tony Sheridan and the Jets at the Top Ten Club. They play there alone a couple of times at the end of November.
Oct 15 Saturday	The Beatles back Lou `Wally' Walters (Walter Eymond), Rory Storm and the Hurricanes' bassist on recordings made at the Akustic Studios in Hamburg. Ringo Starr filled in for Pete Best.
Nov 30 Wednesday	Last performanceat the Kaiserkeller, 36 Grosse Freiheit, Hamburg, Germany.
Dec 05 Monday	The Beatles luck in Hamburg runs out: Harrison is deported for being underage for working in a night club; McCartney and Pete Best are arrested for pinning a condom to a brick wall and then igniting it. The two are told to leave Germany. The band returns home, discouraged.
Dec 17 Saturday	The Beatles perform at the Casbah Coffee Club in West Derby, Liverpool. Chas Newby, from Pete Best's former group, the Blackjacks, joins the Beatles for four jobs playing the bass.
Dec 24 Saturday	Concert at the Corporation's Grosvenor Ballroom, Grosvenor Road, Liscard, Wallasey, Cheshire.
