Paul does great R & B when he wants, Paul does great pop music, Paul does great Rock music, Paul does great childrens songs ;)
He also does Rock n Roll, and man he can sing it with the best. Watching the rooftop performance I was struck with how well he sang this track, in his best Rock voice, I really like it.
John of course intertwines his own song "Everybody had a hard year" supplying a nice laid back counterpoint.
There you go, 2 songs joined together. It really is very cool.
Its not the best or most melodic 2 songs ever written, but on that rooftop, the band kicks sh*t with it. Georges interplay on his Telecaster is indeed fab, as are those vocals.
"All these years I've been wandering around
Wondering how come nobody told me
All that I was looking for was somebody
Who looked like you"

Always liked it. The contrast between John and Paul's voice is pure magic. A highlight off of 'Let It Be'.
one of those songs that you can hear the energy and joy while he/they sing it. They had fun with the song's energy.
Was the highlight of the first "outtake" or bootleg cd I bought over 30 years ago (damn). Probably made it onto Anthology but the version I threw on mix tapes and mix cds was Paul breaking down laughing in the opening "I've got a feeling" line, then composing himself as the melody continued and then he came in "normal" and went on with the song.
And I liked it the first time I heard it all those years ago.
It's fun to see how the song evolved...

The Beatles' rooftop concert was such a great part in the Let It Be movie...

Let It Be (https://videa.hu/videok/zene/beatles-1969-let-it-be-35mm-film-beat-cHPnhvzYvvGBtgVk)
But it wasn't a novel idea. Jefferson Airplane beat them by several weeks...

Let It be is supposed to be the great period of disagreement, and yet here we have a perfect collaboration where John and Paul bind two of their songs together.
There's an interesting contrast in the lyrics between Lennon putting his foot down and pulling his socks up while McCartney is keeping on his toes.

Yes. Despite the reputation of the sessions the album had two of the most "together" songs of John and Paul, this one and Two of Us, perhaps since A Day in the Life.
It is a fun track and always great to hear John and Paul taking leads in the same song. . And the band comes together really well on the rooftop.

Hmmm..
Paul got what he wanted from Georges perfect solo. After their famous discussion.
Paul was in fine voice throughout. John comes into the song at the perfect time, before a fitting ending.
Never knew about this song until I bought the 'Let it Be'. A real treat.
There is something about the arpeggio chords at the beginning of this song which I think was repeated in George's song Wah wah.
It is similar isn't it. That double octave jump is done in both.
Wah Wah becomes a bit more like a riff though I think. Especially when all the instruments kick in.

I hear it too but never would have known it was an arpeggio. LOL
John also uses a similar intro for I know (I know) off Mind Games.

Obviously very popular in Beatledom.

besides being one of the 35 or so highlights of the show it is just pure gold that technology allowed it to happen.
on a side note, have I mentioned the man crush on Abe? That man is just fun to watch.

Although I didn't go to Paul's concert this year, my sister went to his concert at MetLife Stadium last week. She enjoyed the show and the duet with John was very warmly received.
Let's
get back to 30 January 1969...

I'm glad your sister had a good time, Barry; I've read so many official news stories and anecdotal reports about how great Paul's shows are.
I continue to be blown away by his energy and stamina. I don't think I could keep up that kind of momentum.
