Title: Quincy Jones Statements
Post by: Togger on Nov 09, 2024, 04:32 PM
What do you think of his statements they couldn't play? Personally, I think it's close to the truth. Have you ever heard McCartney play his bass live, solo? Everything they ever played is recorded, can be edited or sweetened.

Dear Togger

There's some clever trolls out there on the internet.

You're not one of them.

Personally I think Quincy Jones is/was up his own arse.
Have I ever seen Paul play live? yes on the rooftop for one.
And a few Wings shows on YouTube.
Paul is an awesome musician.

Maybe not as technical as a great Jazz player but very creative on that Bass.

I chalk it up to the health issues he had during the last few years of his life.  There were times he said things he didn't really mean.

Were you on that rooftop? If not, you can't say you have heard them LIVE. Those are just videos where they can dub in the music over the top. And shows on Youtube can be sweetened as well.

As a Bass player of some fifty years and having played endless gigs. I can see the notes he is playing. There is no trickery involved. Also he is very gifted in that he can sing whilst playing complicated and fast bass lines, like I Saw her Standing There.

Believe me, I know when an artist is faking playing an instrument.

I wouldn't  bother Nim

If there's one thing Togs has demonstrated with every comment he's made on this forum is that he has no musical knowledge at all.

He's the one who thought George Martin had a secret microphone that surreptitiously recorded Carl Perkins licks to steal to put on Beatle records.

No, I didn't think it, Carl Perkins himself thought the Beatles stole links from him with a tape recorder. He said it in an article or book. BTW, I  have 45 years of musical experience playing the guitar, you fabricater.

Maybe Carl secretly wrote While my Guitar Gently Weeps as well.  :o

Clearly not very good experience.

Can you cite a source? I spent a good bit of time looking for some sort of corroborating info on this but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. It was enjoyable reading about the times he worked with George, Paul and Ringo, though.

You beat me to it, Kelley! I, too, would be interested in seeing a source (not Wikipedia), especially given that my searches also didn't yield anything helpful.
