Has your preference in Beatles music changed over the years? New favorite era, albums, songs, or Beatle?

For me, the 1964 era used to be my favorite. Now it's totally 1966-1967 (now it may stay this way forever, but who knows!). My favorite album is Revolver; also love Pepper and MMT. I love the psychedelic stuff. And I think Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane is the greatest single of all time - for any artist. I didn't care much for SFF years ago. Now it's probably in my top 5. Paul's songs used to be my favorite; now I love John's just as much, and a handful of George's (Taxman new favorite George song). Songs have crept in as my favorites and I NEVER thought they would! Such as Rain, You Never Give Me Your Money, Happiness is a Warm Gun, And I Love Her, Tomorrow Never Knows, and Fixing a Hole.

Tell me your old vs. new favorites!

Hello Goodbye

My experience of The Beatles is a bit different.  I was 13 when I first heard of The Beatles and saw them on The Ed Sullivan Show a couple of months later.  I didn't much care for them as did other boys my age.  Girls, however, were a complete different story.  They wore buttons with the names of their favorite Beatle.  What a riot!

Personally, my favorite British Invasion group was The Animals...

That was my kind of music.  No yeah, yeah, yeahs.  Just that distinctive voice of Eric Burdon who never smiled except for this one rare moment...

It was my sister, five years younger than me, who flipped over The Beatles and had to have all their LPs.  But she didn't care much for Rubber Soul and gave the LP to me.  That's when I began to appreciate them.  They had matured and I could relate to their music.  I became a fan and looked forward to each new album and single.  I guess I grew up with The Beatles who had a great impact on my life.

Thus, I have no favorite Beatles song.  Their catalog of music marked a special era; my coming of age.

At this moment, however, my favorite Beatles song is I'm Looking Through You.  Not the released version but rather Paul's alternate version where he really spilled his liver over his relationship with Jane Asher and really let her have it...

I never cared for the sugary "why tell me whys" in the released version.  If you're going to tell someone off, do it right!   :)

Favorites do change over the years

Back in my teens and 20's, the heavy party years, I enjoyed the later stuff more, it was played more in my group I hung out with.  Lots of white album, abbey road, and back down to pepper.
When we started having kids, I remember singing Norwegian Wood as a bedtime lullaby to my kids when they were very young.  Definitely had become one of the favs at that time.

Somewhere along the way of aging, probably around the time that Beatles Rock Band came out, maybe it was before that, Here Comes the Sun became my favorite.  I made it my default ring tone on my cell phone, still is today for that and my alarm each morning.

My true favorites change each day, mood determines it I think.

One enduring favorite, back in the burning cd days, I burn the medley from Abbey Road as one song and even in today's streaming world, I have it available as a single selection.

Paul/John - I have vacillated back and forth.  Paul often gets the nod probably because I have seen him live so much, wish I had that opportunity with John but he probably wouldn't have ever played Beatle songs live had he lived.  Good question
