This is the wonderful Alma Cogan, a particularly good friend of John's, who was a terrific 'showbiz' singer in the 1950s and 1960s. She and her mother and sister gave parties at their London apartment and the Beatles would often hang out there. She was still touring when she became ill and eventually died of cancer in 1966, only 32. In her heyday she was a little chubby, this photo shows her rather thin, and is probably around the time she became ill.
