I was in 7th grade and it was late November and I was watching tv one night and The Beatles "One" commercial came on and I thought "hm that looks pretty good. I will go out and buy it." So that's what I did and the rest is history.

Funny story though, when I was around 9 or 10 I had a Beatles calender and the reason I had one is because I saw the cover (Please Please Me album cover) of the calender and I thought that those guys looked cool and anyway I was flipping through the months and I saw the Magical Mystery Tour picture and I was confused and I actually asked my mom if those guys in the animal costumes were the same guys that were on the cover haha.

i was about 13-14 when i started to listen to the beatles seriously, it was around the time that the first anthology-box was released, in 1995. my dad bought me that one for christmas. before that i did listen to his lp's on the stereo, great times. i'm so grateful, they've inspired me alot.

The walrus

hey everyone, I'm new here. :)

I had discovered them recently like about 1 or 2 months ago. I was flipping through the TV guide when i came across the name "John Lennon" (it was a movie about him) the name sounded familiar (hippie website) and i just knew i had to watch this movie so i did. and i became facinated with this man even though it was just an actor playing him but i wanted to learn more so i went on the net to read about him. and i started reading about the beatles but i didn't take much notice. then i came across someones profile on a site, they had a youtube video clip of the beatle song "all you need is love" and right then and their i fell inlove and was like "wow" i started searching for more of their music and was blown away every time i herd a new song by them and thats where my obsessesion started and they still continue to amaze me with their wonderful music. and i just know i will love them forever.

I'm 17 years old and I wish i found them sooner but i was really lucky because my parents don't listen to music and everyone else is into hiphop and rap and mainstream music. so i was fortunate to discover the beatles and classic rock and i've never been happier. the beatles changed my life. I've herd of the beatles before(its hard not to) but never really noticed them until now. i must of been deaf or something lol.

Flaming Pie in the Sky

Okay, first of all, I am a young fan, I'm 14.  :) Well, I was flipping through a book about 6 months ago and saw a picture of the Sgt. Pepper album cover, and I thought it looked pretty interesting and I decided to buy it when I got the chance. I bought Love instead, just to introduce myself to the music. The next week, I bought Revolver, then Sgt. Pepper, etc, etc, etc. And now, I'm the one who tries to convince all my mainstream friends to listen to the Beatles. Most of them turn up their noses and tell me to get with the times, but two of them are starting to become fans. Between my parents and friends telling me to get my head out of the 60s, it's a wonder I'm even buying more albums..... oh well, I've always been pretty independent.........  ::)

Flaming Pie in the Sky

Oh and welcome the walrus!!!!  :)

They were the ultimate in cool! My friend who was slightly younger than you when he first saw them says the same thing. For some reason, even when they were being goofy, they were cool. I guess it's because they actually were really being themselves-- they were sincerely fun-loving and witty. That honesty and genuineness gets across. Then, when you add the music..!  8)

Welcome, The walrus! Great story. The Beatles snuck up on me, too, only I missed them by many more years than you did. I didn't even have the excuse of having different music available, I just missed it! But I'm a big internet researcher, too. The more you find out, the more you want to know! This quartet really was bigger than life.

Flaming Pie in the Sky, sorry your parents are trying to rain on your parade. If you ask me, you're just a person who's drawn to well-crafted, fun, melodic music. What can be wrong with that!  ;D I'm glad you're pursuing your interest anyway. Not everyone is cynical. The Beatles are an antidote to a lot of life's miseries. Hang in there!

All you've got to do is choose love.  That's how I live it now.  I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden.  I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007<br />

Honestly, like I listen to my parents  ;D
These are people who are in their 40s who like hip-hop better than classic rock- great musical role models
