Some interesting comments here - I've never considered the WA pics to be glum.  Sure, the sessions were full of tension and the boys were gearing up to split, but... I dunno, i think they just looked how they looked at the time. The photos are become part of the Beatles iconography.

Four 8x10 glossies, one of each Beatle, were included as inserts with the White Album. These pictures were taken by photographer John Kelley in the autumn of 1968.

Are the glossies from around their homes or at the studio?

it came folded up in every copy of the album - the lyrics were on the back of it

I'm sort of surprised no one has mentioned this already. It is a brilliant book.

I have that book, I read it for school when we had to read a Bio  It's awesome
