I don't know. I just think "entertainers" has certain ring to it that makes it sound like the music was secondary to their showmanship, which of course it was not.

Like the Who; Pete Townshend saying... "We won't let the music get in the way of our stage act!"

I voted for songwriters, though innovators is pro'lly spot on.

They weren't so much entertainers, they weren't a group with a "guitar hero" or any particular outstanding musician, they were... The Beatles, first and foremost. o=

I find it very very strange that 'Brilliant Entertainers' has received only one vote in this poll, out of 29. If they had not been brilliant entertainers in their early career, they would probably not have got much further than A Hard Day's Night.

They are absolutely brilliant in every single way, even ways not on the list. But I voted songwriters because, well, they all wrote the greatest songs ever heard!

They were great songwriters and good musicians, too, but they were above all else entertainers, something they first learned to be in Hamburg and continued throughout their career.
