With Richard Curtis writing (Four Weddings and a Funeral, About Time, I’ll try to forgive him for Love Actually) and Danny Boyle directing (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) it’s got a high powered pedigree.

Edit sheeran out plse

I write scripts for a hobby and I’ve had a couple of ideas sort of similar to this in which the Beatles circa 1964 are transported to the present while a tribute band ends up in 1964 lol    I also wrote a short in which a young guitarist time travels back to 1958 and intervenes with Paul and George before they meet John lol this ensuring he is in the Beatles

Anyway this is kind of fun I guess

Brilliant idea, Steve.  I like that kind of Back To The Future stuff.  I would love to see a movie like that!

Yeah H.G, I’ve had a few ideas about Beatle scripts over the years but haven’t yet written them though I am currently halfway through a feature about 2 Liverpool lads who time travel back to 1980 to stop John’s murder. They succeed but at a huge cost    Will post it here as soon as I finish it.

The trailer for this new movie gives away the whole plot in it which is sort of dumb lol

Yes, the encounter could create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe!

An episode in which a man goes back in time to try to prevent the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

There's another episode in which a man goes back to prevent the assassination of Hitler, the sinking of the Lusitania (oddly, at night), and one other thing, but I didn't want to over–TZ you guys.

It agree! TZ has quite a few time-travel episodes (as I'm sure you know). Unfortunately, this one doesn't get played too often during the marathons.

Sorry, Moog and Stevie; I didn't mean to derail your thread. It sounds like a good idea.

Back on topic, here is a Ringer write up on it, they end with multiple people coming up with a fictional album of Beatle songs to be the inaugural album, 10 songs each.

What 10, if you were picking a playlist/album to introduce the Beatles catalogue including solo, to the world?

I will put some thought to this and post my 10 hopefully tonight.

Interesting challenge. You’re really looking for the best “songs”regardless of who performs them. Songs that were elevated to great from the whole band performance or were just great recordings wouldn’t always fit the bill. Still huge numbers to choose from. I’ll also ponder this.

I kept vacillating between what I would imagine would be incredible to hear if you heard them for the first time (premise of movie) and my favorites.

Here is my first attempt at the 10 song album, in an order I would want them revealed:

Here comes the sun
Paperback Writer
Help
Strawberry Fields
Eleanor Rigby
Something
I am the Walrus
She Loves You
Yesterday
A day in the life

I’m not real good at these lists. If I could make one the songs would be revealed in the order they were originally released. After all, it worked before.

The beauty of these lists is that pretty much any ten songs you settle on will be great. Which these all are.

Im thinking in keeping with the movie. A modern day singer songwriter gets to pick from all the Beatle songs to present as his own. Hearing what’s about in this genre now, Ed Sheeran, Bon Iver, Damian Rice etc, I’d sway toward the more acoustic type numbers. I’d note that by far the most played Beatle song on Spotify is Here Comes the Sun. So in addition to those ones you’ve mentioned I’d find a space for In My Life, Let it Be and the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.  I’d probably lose She Loves You, Walrus and Paperback Writer. All great  songs of course but I’m wondering how they’d sound with some other artist doing them today.

This list would change if it was presenting ten Beatle recordings to play to people who had never heard of them. Walrus would definitely come back into play for instance.

I purposefully didn't care about the historical release order, after all, in 2019, never having heard these songs before, there is no logical way to explain the progression if you follow the order.
