So are you saying that john lennon couldnt tune a guitar?
That's correct.

When he met Paul he could not tune a guitar.

He was only 15, 16 and he had primarily been playing a banjo.

Its pretty hard to tune by ear, especially back then without proper tutorials etc.

For instance, those lists of songs without Ringo, songs without John, songs without Paul and songs without George I was talking about a few days ago: each list consists of 20-30 songs, except for Paul's... Besides solo songs like "Revolution 9" and "Julia" he missed just one song in the entire Beatles catalogue (can't remember which one right now)...
I know I just woke up, but i'm confused. What are you saying here,,,,that the Beatles only had one song in their entire catalog that Paul didnt play on?

Naah.

Anyone can quickly tune a guitar with the 5th fret method, no real instruction needed beyond being shown once, maybe twice tops.

Tuning from scratch and tuning the ear is still a small task in the context of learning Guitar.

Well, it simply wouldnt have worked :)
Mccartney & Lennon were way ahead of Harrison in structure and composition of a song, and had that artistic link of the conscience and subconscience level.

oh my rod...............actually the other two i think had less talent than george in the beginning.he would tune the guitars if the others were busy b4 a hamburg show.his voice had better highs and lows.i think he had more voice training than paulie or john.
listen to the quarrymen at home cd if you got it.stu is on there too supposedly.but george is the only diamond on there.the other two leave a bit to be desired.
pay close attention to that'll be the day and listen..............

I think it may have been For Yer Blues. John was gutted that he was'nt on 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road'. Think my source was 'Revolution In The Head'.

She Said is the one Paul was not on.

And just about the only one.  The others all missed more than that.

But then, he WAS "Beatle Ed".

According to Paul it was one of those days where there was a lot of tension at the workplace and he ahad a barney with one or more of the band guys (probably John), he said 'f*** you' and he walked out.

So they did it without him.

HOWEVER, according to Lewisohn the basica track had two guitars bass and a drum.  SO one or the other is mistaken.

But generally it is believed he was not on the track.

gonna have to say paul, i mean someone who can go from playing the guitar to playing the bass in such a unique way, and also write some really good stuff, thats got to be recognised.
