Beatles Tribute Bands
« on: April 02, 2008, 08:22:51 PM »

Hi !

I didn't find much by seaching the forum, so ...

Which beatles tribute band do you like ? Or don't you like tibute bands in general ?

I went to a concert by The Cavern Beatles in January and really enjoyd it !  :) They do a great job ! Eddie McClain really has a great voice, suprisingly similar to Johns.

I checked their tour dates a few times but none of the listed were in Germany. But today I happend to discover they'll come to Germany in November and  I think I'll order some tickets tomorrow  ;)

So, what are your experiences ?

Here in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA..........I've seen "1964-The Tribute" twice.........they're kinda old.........been around for 20 years, but the music is "tight"...........close your eyes and it's the Beatles on stage.
Then I saw "The Return" twice at Murray's Dinner Placehouse.  Very intimate setting, dinner and a show.........and I got to go back stage after the show and meet the guys and have pictures taken with no hassel whatsoever.  These guys are young, got to do the hair and makeup to look like them, but they are also very good.
The BEST I've ever seen was in Branson, Missouri, USA, called "Liverpool Legends" and they are even managed by George Harrison's sister, Louise.  Met all of them after the show, met Louise..........very, very nice lady.  And my husband even got up on stage with them when they sang, "Birthday" because his birthday was in November when we saw them.  "LL" were the only tribute band that went thru the whole spectrum of the Beatles history.........The early "Hard Days Night" black suits, the military "Shea" jackets, the Sgt Pepper satin and the Abby road cover look.  All in all.............very good show.  Not to mention the guys that "played" Paul and George were too cute.  I'll upload some pix and post........

There is a tribute band that as an ongoing show in Las Vegas I believed they are called The Fab Four.  I will be in vegas next week and was thinking about seeing them. I don't know.  I don't know how I feel about it.  I will either love it or hate it.

The Sunset Four: probably the world's youngest Beatles tribute band. It's refreshing to see younger generations appreciating them.

I just noticed that 1964 is coming to my town. . . can't decide whether or not I want to go. I've never seen a tribute band.

^^^

What the heck; I splurged on a ticket. Almost $75! These guys better be good. (I'm such a crab, LOL.)

Too bad I can't strong-arm my older daughter into going with me. I sat through the One Direction movie (ugh) and the Jonas Brothers movie (double ugh!) for her, so I figure she owes me, big time. ha2ha But she's a few hours away.

Anyone seen this particular tribute band?

I've seen a few, never disappointed.  With the name of 1964 I wonder if they focus on the early material only.  A good friend saw a tribute band a few weeks ago, they were instrumental only however.  He said it didn't matter, they were really good musicians and he loved it.  I don't recall what their name was.

have fun, report back

Yes, from the little I read in the event description, it does sound like they focus on the early stuff.

Thanks, will do! It's not for another month.

Looks good! I hope they play that song. The performers seem to have the Beatles' mannerisms down pretty well, and I see that their "Paul" is left-handed.  :)

They're very good!  The George guitarist did a fine job combining George and Paul's hamony guitar riffs as they were originally recorded...

You've heard lead harmony guitar before in songs like...

Nice! I'm getting a little more enthused.

Yikes, I know that song, didn't know the name, though. That triggered a painful memory. (It's too boring to share.) I've never hit "stop" so fast.  ;D

This one, too, brings me pain. I'm not playing it, just posting it 'cause I think it's a good song. I have it on my playlist but always skip it. There's logic for ya.  ;)

I missed this comment when you first posted it, Nim. Interesting: I would think the White Album would be fairly tricky to play live. Well, some of the songs, anyway.

I had to jump back online and do a search. Wow, I am clearly not up to speed in regard to tribute groups. I'm not sure if this is the one you were referring to, nimrod/Moogmodule:

https://www.goldminemag.com/articles/a-beatles-tribute-that-represents-the-continuing-story-of-the-white-album

But Christopher Cross?? I have a hard time imagining that. And apparently The Who's John Entwistle was part of the Abbey Road tribute show/band. Hm. That, too, I have a hard time picturing. But the latter was led by Alan Parsons, according to the article, and I can definitely see that.

Well, I hope this song, with its harmony lead guitar starting at 3:08, doesn't trigger any bad memories.  It's called Ramblin' Man...
