And I've Just Seen a Face is one of my all-time favorites.

Maybe some of it has to do with 2 cover songs and a few of what people would call fillers?

it's a mixed bag IMO
2 ordinary covers, 3 fillers, 3 brilliant songs 
The rest very good pop songs.

It’s not Hard Days Night or Rubber Soul in consistency but for me still has enough good to great songs to make it an enjoyable album. Notwithstanding a few less than stellar tracks.
