Revolver & Rubber Soul - they had something on their mind...
« on: October 24, 2015, 08:41:17 PM »

So, I'm listening to songs from those two wonderful albums (for which George Harrison once said that they could be like one album, with parts 1 & 2).

The song is 'You Won't See Me' and the lyrics go:
Quote
And I will lose my mind if you won't see me...

Run For Your Life:
Quote
And I was born with a jealous mind

Then, from 'What Goes On':
Quote
What goes on in your heart?
What goes on in your mind?

Harrison's Think For Yourself:
Quote
I know your mind's made up...

Although your mind's opaque

The ruins of the life that you had in mind...

The 1966 album:
Tomorrow Never Knows:
Quote
Turn off your mind, relax, and float down stream...

I Want To Tell You:
Quote
But if I seem to get unkind,
It's only me, it's not my mind,
That is confusing things.

+ phrase 'I don't mind' in the same song.

And what to do when...
Quote
Your day breaks, your mind aches...
(For No One)

Even if we exclude the common phrase 'I don't mind' (used in 'I'm Only Sleeping and some other songs), I'd say they use quite often the word in the songs.

I don't mind that, I'm just pointing it out.  8)

Well, you could do the same search for the word 'think' and you'd find how many times it has been used (Think For Yourself etc.)

It would never add up to the number of times "think" was used in this song...

Maybe they were just into Mind Games?

Maybe...

Then, let me take you down... into 1963.
I saw this while listening I Saw Her Standing There:
Quote
And I held her hand in mine!

In 1964., they found something more:
Quote
And I found love was more
Than just holding hands.

...and somebody was clearly happy to dance with her...
Quote
I don't wanna kiss or hold your hand...

And when you see her...
Quote
hand in hand
With another man
In my place.
No wonder you get - No Reply!

Not their track, but Dizzy Miss Lizzy (1965) is asked to...
Quote
Put your little hand in mine...

Handy, don't you think?

Of course, those were all love songs, so they have lyrics full of her, hair, eyes, hands... 8)
