March 11, 1967 must have been National Imbecile Day.  The collective intelligence of that group of teenagers was somewhat less than that of a goat.

That's for sure.  In all fairness, a few did have some functioning cerebral cortical grey matter.  But most of them have highly developed primary motor cortices; they could dance but can't think.

I guess it wasn't possible to dance to Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever and that dictated their responses.   ;D

That day, they were happier doing this rather than listening to Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour LPs...

Ah, 1967!  The year I joined SJS (Students for a Just Society) in high school.  It was secretly funded by SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) and we were learning to be involved in the civil rights movement and to be activists against the War in Vietnam.  Some of us felt dancing was counterrevolutionary.  I was in a faction that believed that occasional partying nd listening to LPs were part of the revolution.  Right on, brother!   ;D

Teenagers on American Bandstand in the 50s were way cooler than the 60s teenagers...

Cool thread, Barry! A lot of those kids dancing to Somebody to Love look like they’re doing a dance called The Apprehension.  ;D

Some of them were groovin', Kelley.  Others were just slow-swing dancing.  They were just off an ab swing dance contest...

In early 1969, they couldn't dance to Hey Jude or Revolution so Dick Clark played Horse Fever by Cliff Nobles & Co.

Oddly enough, I would have agreed with all these kids about not wanting to go to school at night.  :)
