Surge (2020). Disturbing and more than a little depressing. I thought Ben Whishaw's acting was superb.

The Northman
2022

The third and eagerly anticipated Viking film by up and coming director Robert Eggers. I loved his first two, The Witch and The Lighthouse.
This one has a bigger budget. I found it quite enthralling. Just watched it again :)

I think Eggers films you either like them or hate them.

I want to see this one. Apparently rather violent I've heard.

Took my youngest to Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As usual a well made Marvel story. Great effects and a clever wizard battle literally using musical notes as projectiles. Benedict Cumberbund is as professional as you’d expect. Trouble with this multiverse stuff, which they also used in the recent Spider-Man, they can basically do anything they want from a story point of view. Harder to be engaged with the stakes the way they did with the original marvel sequence that concluded with Endgame.

I just finished watching Cyrano de Bergerac...

I've read the play, in French and in English, several times over the years.

I am the source of your life's unhappiness! I!

No. You have blessed my life! Never in my life had I been loved by a woman. Even my mother could
not see past my ugliness. I had no sister and, when grown a man, I feared all women would mock me.
But I have had your gracious friendship. Because of you, a woman's charm has finally passed across
my path.

I loved one man, and now I've lost him twice!

Alternately tragic and comic, an exploration of the complexities of love in both its brightest and darkest corners. Adapted from John Irving's best-selling novel A Widow for One Year..

Given that your wife and I had similar reactions to Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, I think I'll take my cue from her and skip it, although I did enjoy The Lighthouse and The Witch.   :)

Kids forced me out of the house and took me to see the new Doctor Strange movie.  I'm a big Scarlet Witch fan so I enjoyed it for the most part.  Both kids hated it though.

Pig Hag (2019). A depressingly realistic portrayal of how men treat women who don't live up to the ideal blonde svelte stereotype. It is a good movie, just depressing.

True. But I had hopes for a happy ending, or at least one that wasn't quite such a downer.

I watched Apollo 13 a few days ago.  The movie's dialogue is largely tech talk about saving the spacecraft.  But it was an amazing event and almost impossible to believe they re-entered earth's atmosphere and survived their catastrophic experience.  You'd almost think this movie is fiction but nope, it's entirely true.
