We had Back to School Night tonight, so I got to stare at Slash and his wife for about an hour. He was hangin' with a pretty famous actor at first, but then went to sit up front. It was so cool. He was really into what our head of school was saying which was a speech about raising kids who don't expect to be coddled and overpraised. Among other things. It was a great speech. Anyway, Slash looked awesome!  :)

Never in a million years would I have ever thought I'd be working in a school like this. It's so foreign to me. Growing up second generation with very blue collar parents and so on. So odd it is.

BTW, Slash seems SO down to earth unlike other well known people we've had at our school who always need special seating and other perks. Very cool.  :)

I don't know, but maybe I shouldn't even be posting this? Just wanted to share though. He seems way cool is all.  :)

It's a private school in Los Angeles. It's only recently gotten this way. It's just funny. All the teachers get so excited. The kids too! We've only got a handful of famous people. Keeps it interesting though! Although some I couldn't care less about. "Three Dollar Bill Y'all..."

As in met, world known, spoke to.
Jazzy B from Soul 2 Soul stopped at my house a few hours before his gig on the Isle of Wight. I was promoting that one. Surreal
Roy Ayers, as a supporting band at a gig.
M.C.A. AD Rock and Mixmaster Mike - Beastie Boys, Backstage at my local festival I was performing at.
Mark King - Level 42 fellow Isle of Wighter. Round a mates.
Princess Anne and the Duke of York as an Army Cadet.

I probably have got lots more quite famous but I won't harp on.  :X
Nowhere near as impressive as Bill Harry who must beat us all hands down.  ;D

Harp on please. Isn't that the point of the thread? How cool were the Beasties?!? Love them!  :K)

And yeah, Bill Harry is on another level. I mean, come on!! What a great life to hang with so many legends.

And for the record. I've never "met" anyone famous. Just happen to be lucky enough to be in the same vicinity as them sometimes. And I won't harp on anymore either since that doesn't even count anyway!  :X

Sounds really cool, it must be a pretty big school on the scene! Who else have 'had' ?? I would guess for some of the people who visit, the teachers get more excited than the kids!

I haven't really met any famous people, although i've seen loads. I chatted to Jack bruce for about 25 minutes, so that'll be my clame to fame.

FNU met me! I was on TV a few times. So it was the public access! I was still on TV singing.
And I'm a princess!

And I think I met a few authors, but I can't remember if I did and which ones.

I've met Ian McKellen, Miep from Anne Frank's diary, and Harry Shearer.  Ian was a very kind guy.  Harry was very nice, and he even did the voice of Mr. Burns (from "The Simpsons") for me!

I once saw Nicole Kidman up close with her two adopted kids at a movie theater years back, but was too scared to approach her for an autograph.  I have also seen other celebs in person (Ringo Starr, Jay Leno, Julie Andrews, etc.) but did not get to speak to them.

I've been about 10 feet from Julia Roberts, but other than some figure skaters that's the closest that I've been.  Oh and I've yelled at Dallas Green from Alexisonfire :) lol

Phil Collins - though he wasn't famous at the time, Elvis Costello a few times, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Captain Sensible, the guys from Porcupine Tree, Mark Lawrenson (ex-footballer), Mathew Kelly (actor), Gabrielle Drake (actress, sister of Nick), Geoff Hurst, Gordon Banks, Micky Droy (ex-footballers).

More when/if I remember them.

Oh yeah, that bloke who originally played Mark in Eastenders, but died and was replaced by Todd Carty.

Years ago I was involved in a production about Nick called 'A Skin Too Few'. She was naturally one of the first people we went to for help/info etc., as well as an endorsement. She wasn't very helpful in either department. Very nice, but extremely protective of her brothers' memory. She gave us permission to use his music in the show though. Apparently she came to one of the performances, though we didn't see her there.

This was just before the late 90's increased interest in Nick's music came about. I'd like to think we had something to do with it, but we probably didn't.
